But, I was pretty surprised to see an entire empty section in the NE endzone.

under the scoreboard?

Always going to be empty seats there with the student section filing in tightly down low

Anyone that doesn't realize this clearly hasn't gone to a CFB game at ANY stadium in the last 3-4 years.

I respectfully disagree.
Some schools are struggling to put butts in seats, for sure; all programs (I.e., "universal") are not.
But you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

I've only been to one game in that time frame. I've had the chance to go to others but other things have been going on. However, at that one game BDS was jam packed. And that was against a cupcake. I'm sure it would have been just as packed had Florida come to town.

BDS is known to have the same problem with articles being written about it

It's a lot bigger problem for us this year than it has been. I noticed the people who were there acted like they were devoid of energy. I sat near the top of the student section and 90% of the students sat the entire game. No one made much noise around me either

I really hate when people shite on student sections. A large part of the problem is they often schedule crappy games that no one is excited about. We have played one home SEC game this year, and the student section was full until the right before the end. Quality of opponent is the biggest thing IMO.

This was not a crappy game. No excuses.

The crowd was not loud at all either. Also, I noticed a lot of empty seats mid 4th quarter when it was still a one score game. A lot in the lower bowl.

Tiger Stadium is massively ovverrated now. It used to be pretty good, but now it is never really full, rarely loud, and fans leave embarrassingly early in games that are still in doubt.

And don't even say it is like that everywhere. UGA has its problems with its students, but only for the crappy games.

Kyle field and Jordan Hare have the best fan support in the SEC and loudest stadiums now. Not sure about the Swamp. I figure it is there as well, but haven't paid much attention to them this year.

Got married last year, have a baby coming tomorrow. When I say other things have been going on, I mean it.

The articles I've seen written about the problem at BDS have been concerning the student section. Those seats are empty because the students pile in down below.

Jesus, even Sanford Stadium with it's fickle arse student sections and country club members has been pretty full every game this year

The student section is one thing, but I've never seen our normal sections (our south side stands would be the equivalent to LSU pic in the OP) look like that. And that was the 2nd quarter of a big time SEC game.

there were empty seats @ UGA when LSU played in 2009. The atmosphere this year was top notch, but lacking in 09

I'm not saying this is a valid excuse, but the west side was packed and they had 5-6 people in our area get taken out on stretchers

The east side seats in Tiger Stadium during sunny, hot day games are tough. I know, I sit there. Thank goodness for the clouds that showed up at halftime.

Florida fans sitting behind us were complaining about it - which was odd because the last time I was at the Swamp for a day game it was a sweat box - just like Tiger Stadium east yesterday. L

I went to get water and a lot of fans (mostly women and kids) were hanging out in the concourse areas.

yep, they had a few people taken out on stretchers in our area.

Then they ran out of water

if it would have been a night game it would have been full. Hot in S. La. sitting in the sun, folks don't like to sweat.

I've seen the South side stands sparse in the first quarter of decent games before filling up. But like I said, it hasn't been an issue this year.

The UGA student sections have been bringing it this year, too. Even against North Texas I was impressed with the crowd making noise in the rain.

I went to the Swamp last year for the LSU game. Sunshine seats were not full I'd say 75% full for the LSU game.

Happens to us at Kyle weekly as well.
A few years back the PTB finally ended up changing policy, and folks can now (and do) bring in gallons of water into the stadium.
It's made a huge difference.

I am going to disagree on that one.

But Def agree that it is hot as frick in the east around 2:30 to 4:30 nothing to block the sun

Bc it was hot as frick. I was on the other side in the shade and I was still sweating my balls off. A lot of fans were late bc of mass congestion at gates especially 1-3

looks like empty seats to me.

Going to be even more drastic when 1/2 the student section has shade

It's pretty simple to post a picture

It is also deafening to sit under the scoreboard now
