Over all record by division in Football?

East 11 wins
West 13 wins

Incorrect.
The East`s only wins v. the West were

Georgia over Auburn and
Florida over Ole Miss

Out of 15 inter division games including the SECCG.

Florida should. Rest shouldn't. Ten appearances. Holding all the weight here.

Florida had a 7-1 SEC record, they mathematically would have been the 2nd best team in the conference even without divisions

They would have probably played more west teams without divisions. But you knew that already.

Florida hasn't been worthy of a title game since Meyer was the coach.

Didnt UF beat Ole Miss and finish with a better conference record. I don't see how this could ever happen because conference rivals will want to play each other.

Some consistency in scheduling isn't bad. Otherwise the top 2 will most likely be the two teams who happen to have the easiest schedule.

Too bad there wasn't a SECr for when the Florida/Tennessee game determined the conference champion and the East was the better division.

I like this idea but I would say that each school gets 3 permanent games. I'd love to play LSU, MSU and Vandy every year.

Auburn could get Florida, Georgia, and Alabama each year.

LSU could get ATM, Ole Miss and Arky each year.

Alabama could get UT, Auburn, and one more.

UT could get Kentucky, Vandy, and Alabama each year.

etc. ...

If this had been the setup since 1992, here are the differences, assuming h to h is first tiebreaker, no divisions:
93 - UF vs UT instead of Bama
95- UF vs UT instead of ARK
96 - UF vs UT instead of Bama
97- UF vs UT instead of Auburn
98 - UF vs UT instead of MSU
01- UF vs UT instead of LSU
10 - AU vs Ark instead of SC
11 - LSU vs Bama instead of UGA
13 - AU vs Bama instead of Mizzou

So overall SEC west would have many less appearances, UT many more.

I remember when the go-to line to Bama fans was "stop living in the past."

It's an awful idea. If you don't play everyone in your conference then winning the conference title game isn't as important. With the system now, at least there is a feeling that you "played" everyone in your conference.

So the conference can sell tickets for people to watch the SECw winner beat down the SECe winner.

Wow. And how many times have you been the SEC West winner, again? Sounds like a way to make yourself feel better about your team.

Auburn beat you?

Louisville beat you?

That would be nice but who were the best 2 teams last year? It's not clear cut. Not having divisions would give teams with a weaker schedule the advantage. Atleast now the division champ actually plays everyone in the division and the extra 2 games still make a big difference. It's a Cycle , right now the west is top dog but the east was in the 90s . Would you guys want to drop divisions 1990s?

Curious, was a similar question or proposal brought up here when the East was the dominant Div?

Ole Miss didn't just lose to Florida they were destroyed- take out Grier and the Rebs lose by say 17 instead of 28.

Ole Miss's problem in Gainesville was that it's weak gimmicky offense couldn't move the ball against a too flight pass defense.

Supposedly Ole Miss was good and that game was over at half time.

This is stupid. The East has been stronger than the West for long periods too.
