Why should the SEC East get an automatic berth in the conference title game?

If you think about it, shouldn't the conference championship game be decided between the two best teams in the conference? If the SEC West has two or three teams clearly better than the best team in the SEC East, why should the SEC East team get rewarded for being in a weaker division? It makes no sense. The second place SEC West team should get the berth over them. And before people mention head-to head, that's not always an accurate indicator of one team being better than the other. Fluky results happen. Games are also not played at a neutral venue and we all know how important home-field advantage can be in college football. Hell, Ole Miss was clearly the second best team in the SEC this past season. They lost to a Florida team that was cheating with a roided-up QB. And we all know Ole Miss would have given Bama a better game than Florida did. It really is a broken system.

The conference is big enough now to do that. We already eliminated divisions in basketball, why not football too?

Florida had a 7-1 SEC record, they mathematically would have been the 2nd best team in the conference even without divisions

They might not have been 7-1 if they played more teams from the west. Almost any western team was better than Vandy, Missouri, South Carolina, and Kentucky last year

Yes, the founding Big 6 who built this conference have rivalries in its century old history. We let you in this great conference 20 something years ago, you're welcome, try to get relevant one of these days

14 teams - 12 games. What's to say that if you eliminate divisions that UF doesn't end up with the same exact schedule? Or, what if UF didn't play LSU but instead faced AU? The way UF played against LSU, they would have beaten AU by 21 points. Then they would have been 8-0 in league play.

Having thought about this some more, this is easily the dumbest thing I've ever heard from an SEC fan with regard to schedule changes and the set-up of the conference.

The SEC would look worse than the Big12 has looked lately, for not having a CCG.

Over all record by division in Football?

East 11 wins
West 13 wins

BIG DIFFERENCE.

Jeez, stupid non researched topic.

So the conference can sell tickets for people to watch the SECw winner beat down the SECe winner.
