Why not play the LSU - McNeese State game today?

I think it would be in LSU's best interest to play this game, for the following reasons:
A> Real game experience
B> A presumed win for the records
C> Help new coaches learn communications, etc. with players before a SEC game.
The only negative would be a potential injury, but that is the same risk as last night.
I don't think a day's lest rest before MSU would make all that much difference.

< This guy agrees but I'm sure the new age smart fans will disagree.

Stadium event staff would have to be lined up in advance, as would officials. Can't do all that on 12 hours notice.

Said LSU's AD Joe Alleva: "[Sunday] is really not an option. McNeese had to go home. They didn't have a hotel. They would have had to go home and come back."

Thank you!
This is why LSU fans are fed up with Alleva.
First, he says we have until 11:59 for kickoff and that LSU was prepared to take it to that time to fit the game in. (The game was called at 1030).
Then, he gives a presser talking about how the decision was for player safety. Fine, I agree with that. However, you cannot tell me there is no way LSU couldn't have made this happen today. Find a hotel for those players (even if they had to go to lafayette to find a hotel with vacancy). Then he said the stadium couldn't be made ready for a game today. Is it not ready now?
He is feckless. That is why LSU fans are fed up.

Then play the game without concessions, etc.
limit the attendence, whatever.
I think folks would understand the circumstances.
Even the SEC basketball tourney was once played at an empty arena

Exactly. Would a game today have been ideal and just like a Sat game? No. But I think everyone involved would have been understanding.

Officials being ready is the dumbest reason.
You can't tell me you couldn't round up the number of officials needed for a game today.
If offered, you could get any of 100 available refs. not like any of the college refs are doing anything on a Sunday. they would be glad to work an extra game for a few bucks.

Because you want a full week to prep for MSU. Why would you mess with your routine for a easy win that means nothing. Plus the risk of injury.

I get the problem with lining up staff and refs and the like, but programs -- especially big time programs who have a lot riding on every single win -- need to start creating contingency plans for each and every game. Said plans will almost never be necessary, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Have your current people sign up to be available the next day...just in case.

If they played the game this afternoon , we are only talking about a 18 hour difference. These are healthy 19 year old kids. They could handle it.
lame excuse.

I fail to see how LSU couldn't have made arrangements for McNeese to stay somewhere in BR for a day. Even with zero notice.
