This feels a lot like UCF claiming to be national champs. We all know its not true so please stop patronizing us. I'd love to see a clip (any clip) of anyone predicting UGA to be anything less than 11-2. If you can't produce any evidence of being doubted then STFU. This honestly makes y'all look so fricking weak.

On this flip side, how tf did Kirby get these grown men to believe in such a comical lie? I think this might be the greatest brainwash job since Hitler and Goebels brainwashed Germany.

Good Lord, you are back to back National champs. Stop acting like scorned lovers and act like the champions your record says that you are.

Eh, nobody thought they'd do this. They were clearly picked behind Alabama and Ohio State.

Nobody thought they'd go 7-5 but nobody really thought they'd win the title either.

It's psychology. Get your team motivated by playing as underdogs.

Excuse me, Who thought this?

And being predicted to be number 3 in the country IS NOT BEING DOUBTED.

They were certainly in the conversation. Sure, they lost a lot to the draft, but they had A LOT of talent on that roster. I think they were #3 in the 247 Composite behind Ohio State and Alabama. They definitely had the materials needed to make a run.

What a weird thing to be upset about. Doesn’t make them look weak at all.

Everybody is better off when you pretend someone is doubting you. Even if it’s not true.

There were definitely some randoms who had us at 7-5 this year but the consensus was that we’d go 11-1 and lose to Bama in the SECCG

Definitely makes them look weak. Instead of just being happy to be back to back champs they have to run to every mic and whine about a slight that never existed. Thats how teenage girls act.

When Auburn won in 2010 did Cam Newton run to a camera to talk about all the people at Florida who were mean to him? No! He celebrated a win with his teammates!

And would you consider that being doubted?

Sure they did - but nobody expected them to. They were clearly picked in the group behind Alabama/Ohio State pre-season by almost everyone.

Most people thought they'd be very good, but almost nobody thought they'd run the table and win the national title (or the SEC title for that matter).

We had Stetson Bennett coming back (many thought he was a game manager) and we lost a historic number of players to the draft. A lot of people were thinking we would take a step back after last season and weren't picking us to repeat.

I don't think anyone thought we would be hot garbage this season, but Kirby and company knew what we had and others didn't believe it.

Thats such a weak answer. if you're being predicted to be 11-2 and #3 in the country preseason that means that everyone thinks you're in the national title picture. No one doubted you.

You did take a step back defensively. Stetson and (IMO the real MVP of the season) Todd Monken took a huge step forward to make up for it.

Honestly that should be the talking point of UGA, not this whiny bullshite about being doubted. What Monk and Bennett were able to do with (again imo) fairly average WRS (compared to other positions on your roster for sure) and no true lead back was outstanding. Monken called plays like he knew what the DCs were thinking all year long and Bennett found all the open WRs. The whole of that offense was certainly better than the individual pieces.

Mostly, it was being picked behind Bama. That's a pretty big deal being in the same conference.
Being behind Ohio by every voter added to it .

On message boards, it was people saying that Stetson didn't win the national championship in 2021. And he would be exposed in 2022 without Pickens, Burton, Cook/Zeus. There is a brotherhood in Athens. Even the defense took offense to the knock on Stetson. UGA was more pissed off in the 2022 preseason than any prior national champion.

Monken is the MVP of the offense and it is why he is the highest paid coordinator for a couple of years running.
Everyone on the Rant ignores it because he doesn't coach for LSU or Bama.

Everyone on the Rant also dogs UGA for the offensive starts against Kent, Samford, Missouri, etc.. what those rentards do not realize is that Monken changes the offense each week. Look at it as a live scrimmage. UGA isn't Ohio State, Tennessee, or Clemson where we call the 7 same plays to 60 points each week (we did against Oregon and South Carolina). After we established an identity, we worked on new things to establish a 2nd one. And a 3rd one. Because we eventually face a defense that slants heavy. We would eventually face a team that blitzes heavy. We would eventually face a defense that floods zones.

And we are talented enough that Monken coached an elite offense that could not be stopped regardless of what the defense tries.

You’re a smart guy SoG, so surely you don’t believe that no one thought the #3 ranked defending national champion might just win the championship

My Brother went to Southern MIss when Monk was coaching there so when we fired Coach O my hope was that we would hire monk. I was well aware that it was EXTREMLY unlikely but I saw what he did with a bunch of JUCO players in Hattiesburg and knew he could tear it up in Baton Rouge.

I perfectly good with the guy we ended up with though

I could be totally misremembering, but I don't recall a single outlet picking them to win the national title. A few picked them to go 12-0, lose to us in Atlanta and make the playoff, but Alabama/Ohio State were almost universal picks to be the 2 best teams.

They pretty quickly jumped into the conversation and then to the front of the line within a few weeks, but the off-season was a whole lot of talk about them being talented but taking a small step back.
