Back in 2001 he predicted Mississippi State to win the SEC and win the Rose Bowl for the National Championship. State went on to finish either 3-9 or 4-8.
Hence the name "Rose Bowl"

Name was given by OM writer and used as a term of derision, in fact he has always been labeled the village idiot by most OM posters which just makes me chuckle even more at all this nonsense.

There are some idiot MSU fans that drank the koolaid Ole Miss gave them. While Steve was giving facts, some of our own said he knew nothing and is a homer. Steve has done the best journalism in the state for years which is why Ole Miss fans hate him so much.
Ole Miss is a journalism school and all the state media love Ole Miss. They give them cover with excuse stories. The few MSU fans who take shots at Steve do so trying to be popular with their little Ole Miss buddies.
They never seem to know shite about Steve yet they are experts about him. I guess every fan base has some tools and we have our share.

Oh Lord, I can only imagine what the egg bowl is going to be like over the next several years...prob from here on out. This added fuel to an already heated rivalry in their state lol. It's gonna be fun.
