I see that you left out 2nd, why is that, Mr Bobby?

Mainly because if you finish second you at least had a shot at the SEC championship game.

Why did we get selected for a better bowl than you if you "finished higher than us" (even though we tied)?

Oh shite, you went there.

I know this might be hard to believe, but cfb actually existed before 2000.

1) maintained high scoring offense
2) much improved defense
3) LSU, Bama have qb problems, Mississippi schools overrated

1.Same high powered offense that gets bent over by Chavis every year?
2. Still a shitty defense in term of LSU/Bama standard
3. Lol LSU doesn't have a "QB" problem, neither does bama

A&Ms defensive improvement from last year is about equivalent with the step back at QB play from bama and LSU from last year.

So same A&M offense plus improved defense (not top tier but respectable) coupled with inexperienced qb play from LSU and bama makes us a contender this year. Auburn has the best shot out of anyone IMO

Right and 1 top 5 finish in how many years??? 15??? Now somehow means A&M is elite?

Yes, LSU has been a better football program over the last fifteen years than us. Happy?

Uh, No. Just no.

A&M LSU is the last game of the year. Jennings has already been at LSU for a while now. Plus a full season by the time A&M rolls around.

and for Bama, you don't need much experience with their O. Big Strong Online. Insane run game. and well Cooper.

You overestimate thing badly.

Offense is still great, less big play potential but more consistently efficient. The difference is that the defense, while young, is significantly more athletic with significantly more skilled bodies at various positions.

It also doesn't hurt that we have the best special teams in the SEC now.

Can A&M fans give me the top 3 reasons why the ceiling is higher than this?

Let me rank the position groups by year:

QB: 2013, 2014, 2012

Can't really rank this year's above a Heisman Winner, but the 2012 QBs were 3 3-star players.

RB: 2014, 2013, 2012

Malena was our LEAST talented back of that group but our best blocker

WR: 2014, 2013, 2012

Evans may be the best receiver out of that group right now, but the sheer volume of pure awesomeness in the current WR group is off the charts.

TE: Tie (all 3)

This is the first year we've actually used the TE effectively under Sumlin and Clear is hurt.

OL: 2014, Tie (2013 and 2012)

2014 is the most talented and deep of the three. Each year has had a top ten pick at LT (Joeckel, Matthews, Obioha)

DT: 2014, 2012, 2013

As great as Damontre Moore was, Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall are both far more talented right now than he was as a freshman and sophomore. 2013 was just pathetic. FAR deeper at DT and NT as well. Most depth we've had since the 90's

LB: 2012, 2014, 2013

We'll see how well Mastrogiovanni and the young players grow into their roles, but the 2012 LBs had lots of senior leadership. It's very possible for the 2014 group to overtake 2012 and 2013 was just AWFUL

CB: 2014, 2013, 2012

Simply more talented and deep

S: 2014, 2012, 2013

2013 had jack shite at FS. Armani Watts is better as a true freshman than Steven Terrell was as a senior

K: 2014, 2013, 2012

Bertolet hasn't kicked a single PAT or FG since mid-2013.

P: 2013-2014 (tie), 2012

Kaser > Epperson

Not happy.

I just dont understand why you can't build it first then celebrate as apposed to jizzing in jars and throwing it at people.

We're much more balanced then A&M.

Debatable

Both are great on one side of the ball, and both are below average on the other. Last year definitely, but LSU's offense is worse and A&M's defense is better.

Much like A&M wont be beating anyone 13-7, LSU wont be beating anybody 52-48.

We were a top 20 (easily) team both years, last year with the worst D in the conference. Maybe nothing is drastically different this year. It was the outside world that thought the program was burning to the ground and it's the outside world that's crowning us.

Ag's were all firmly between a 6-6 and 9-3 season. This year is a building year.

Should we be punished for SC not being ready, or the West appearing wide open?

Maybe we go undefeated and win the NC, maybe we lose every other game this year, gotta play the games.

if you won 10 last season and you think your win total will be down....

Last season was a down year as well for the same reason - losing juniors to the draft.
