Best job... Uh no.
It's definitely one of the top jobs.

There are several top jobs in the SEC. In no order they are:
Auburn
Bammer
LSU
AM
UGA
Florida

The whole notion that Bama is an easier place to win than LSU is garbage in my opinion. Most guys playing now and the past 4 years didnt grow up watching Bama. They grew up watching teams like USC, Miami, and UT among others dominating. I just think Saban has matured and is always surrounding him with talented people.

i dont think he was as much of a 'failure' as a head coach in the nfl as others do. he definitely learned from that experience and was a much better coach for it. it only helped enhance his defensive prowess.

all that said, he was pretty damn successful at LSU.

More experience. And Alabama has always been a better football program than LSU so it's easier to win.

It's what happens when you put college footballs best coach at the SEC's premiere program. 1+1=2

He's a better coach than at LSU due to experience but also he had to build and organize the boosters and local HS support for LSU. At UA this was already ready and waiting for marching orders.

I think the better question is why did it take Nick Saban to make LSU relevant in the college football discussion of elite programs? With the talent in LA and the lack of any other instate school or rival to compete against for that talent, there's no valid explanation as to why LSU was a slightly better than average program for so long before Saban. Before everyone hits the "Hallman and Dinardo were idiots" remember Shula and Dubosewere able to have 10 win seasons. Dubose actually won an SEC tittle.

Very simple. Saban's strategy at LSU was to put a recruiting net around Louisiana and snag a few from the surrounding states. At Bama, he has a brand name school, and now coaching reputation, to recruit nationally.

He is better now and an established name. If he returned to LSU he would do just as well. He'd recruit even better if that's possible bc LSU would have no competition for recruits in state.

Bama has a better booster network for buying his players.

Failure is a great motivator.....he got better after his tenure in Miami.

Plain and Simple

Not to mention Bama offers everything that LSU does with a bit more historical success.

I think he is a better coach and has probably learned a lot from mistakes he has made in the past.

Yup. Saban would be just as successful at LSU right now, if he were still there.

I disagree with the better administrators poster...Skip Bertman is one of the best AD's in the history of College Athletics. 2 final fours, 1 national title, and 2 baseball titles under his tuteledge...plus he hired Mainieri to give them one more after his retiring.

But Bama had better start-up and unquestionably more tradition...Saban had to assist Bertman in getting boosters and financing for facilities. Whereas, Bama boosters gave Saban a blank check and said, here. But most of the facilities were already there.

He has grown as a coach. Believe it or not, he is actually more relaxed than he use to be.

With that in mind. Success is a fickle thing and the margin is so thin. Does he win the title in 2009 if McCoy doesn't get hurt? Hard to say. That texas team was really good In 2011, he got beat at home and then benefited from the only time in the history of the sport that a team finished 2nd in its division and got to play for the bcsnc. In 2012, his team was outplayed lasr night, but he got the win.

Not taking anything away, just to say the he is in the cusp of his 3rd title at Bama, but it has taken some good coaching but also some breaks and dare I say "luck" to get there.
