This is true for every division 1 P5 program that plays their cupcake opponent.

Eh, it would defiantly be worse to lose to an in state opponent. He is right in that regard.

I'm not gonna be anymore pissed off if we lose to Missouri State or Northeastern Cracker Jack State located somewhere in Massachusetts. It makes no difference who the annual cupcake opponent is or where they are from.

Sorry that nobody gives a shite about SMS to schedule them in.

While I get the point to a point, as was said, lots of others do so. For example, LSU has played and is scheduled to play various La schools.

2018 SELA and La Tech
2019 NW St
2020 Nichols
2021 McNeese

UK has EKU this year, Murray St next.
USCe has Coastal 2 of the next 3 years, CSU in 2019, Wofford this year and in 2022.

The flip side of the argument is if you're doing a rent a win, wouldn't you rather those $ stay in state.

Bottom line - don't lose.

Arkansas fans would be in pitchfork and lantern mode for Bert, Jeff, and Asa if UCA showed up on the schedule. Hell if state showed up on the schedule people would be pissed off.

Wonder why Auburn or Alabama never play Jax St, Samford, Alabama St?

That is the whole point of this, they have nothing to gain and everything to lose

Eh, only after a loss. There would be some upset people over it being scheduled but most would be thumping their chest until after a loss in which they would need to enter the witness protection program

Samford played Auburn in 2014. But don't let facts get in the way of a good argument.

ETA: Auburn also played Jax St in 2015. Lol

I know Auburn played them I should have left them out of it. But the point still stands you don't have the major school in the state play them.

Jax St was the OT game they should not have lost (Jax St blew that game) and has somewhat led to the Gus Bus getting a flat tire.

It also really depends on how many DI P5 programs are in your state IMO

They would get more money playing out of state.

So the argument is changing with pretty much every post. Got it. Can only be a one school state playing an FCS school. How about Maryland-Towson. Does that count?

It was scheduled when Steckel went there as a favor. You won't see it anymore.

I truly believe you do not play an instate school that is D1 unless forced to by law or conference.

So FSU and UF shouldn't ever play?

Because, for better or for worse, they do not have the Arkansas mantra.

For Arkansas it is that no in state teams can be scheduled because we have to maintain the loyalty of the entire state.

Give it a few years and I suspect Missouri will go that route. After all SIU is a fine FCS team to bring in for a game.

Makes more sense to play a cupcake from an in-state school, or from your region than a cupcake from across the country.

You have nothing to gain from those games competitively no matter the location of the school.

Might as well keep the payday going to a school from your region.

Look at when the game was scheduled.

Look at when your HC was named and who he is.

Look at where he coached beforehand and for whom.

I agree with what you're saying but if it wasn't Steckel, this game wouldn't have ever been scheduled.
