Does the head coach get final say on what play gets called and dictates how the offense will work? What do you think. He may not call every play, but he will dictate what style of plays will be called.

So is Malzahn still calling the plays?
If he isn't, he is dictating it. This is the same offense we have run since he has been here. I have seen a couple of new concepts on plays that might have come from Chip Lindsey.

This offense looks nothing like Chip Lindsey's other offenses.

Just taking a second look at this. AU fans will be able to help me out here I hope. Is it possible that in those 7 games that AU hasn't scored a single TD after the first quarter? There are a lot of 3s and 6s on the board in the 2nd - 4th quarter. Surely some of those 6s are TDs and went for 2?

It appears so. If he's not calling it directly then he's overruling his OC's. Without Gus involved, neither Lindsay or Lashlee run so much on first down:

quote:

Auburn: 77 percent run on first down
UConn (Rhett Lashlee): 62.6 percent
Arizona State (Chip Lindsey): 59.5 percent

You think Carlson became the SEC's all time leading scorer because we were efficient at getting TD's in the redzone?

ETA: Our redzone offense is made up of wildcat plays and dive/zone read plays. There is almost no passing red zone plays to speak of minus maybe a bubble screen every blue moon.

Those are dysmal point totals in general. Especially for an "offensive genius." Not one of those games did Auburn score over 25 points.

Well Saturday LSU adjusted to his High school scheme. Went in dry up to his eyeballs and kicked his arse

His shell offense only works with a running QB. That's just the way it is.

Auburn fans tried to say that Stidham was athletic enough to be a threat with his legs in this offense. I'm pretty sure that's been proven false.

Stidham is a one trick pony right now, and that one trick is the deep ball.

Really doesn't make a lot of sense though. Didn't he throw the ball a lot at Northern Arkansas, and as an OC at Tulsa?

I have been screaming that the offense needed to change to suit Stidham or White or Johnson. I had hope when he hired Lindsey, but quickly saw nothing had changed and knew Gus never would.

He's in the worst style of offense for his game. The only thing worse would be the triple option. He's not a dual threat, but he can somewhat escape. he has some check-down and progression issues. But he has a good arm.

That genius level adjustment of bringing 1 safety down into the box

To compound on that genius level adjustment, our genius level of adjustment was to decide to run the ball 17 straight times on 1st down. I'd be more concerned if LSU couldn't stop that offense with an extra defender in the box.

He literally ran the same first down play for the entire game.

Good DCs adjust easily to his game plan and he doesn’t return the favor.
