he's failed MISERABLY at both of the head jobs he's had in the NCAA (and in the NFL). I don't get it. Why would anyone want this dude to be their head coach?

frick........I can be the OC at BAMA and win the damn trophy. It's not freakin rocket science.

I felt like USC fired him too early. He went and coached them through their probationary period, when nobody else would. USC needed to lower their standards while on probation. His UT team was a field goal away from beating Bama. He is a good play caller and coordinator. If a team were to hire him and get a good d coordinator to work with him, then he would be a successful head coach. Maybe.

The same reason they are Saban. He wins when he has alot of talent. Give either one mediocre talent and they will never win anything.

By your criteria wouldn't you also agree that Orgeron is even worse as head coach?

They also probably should have beaten Florida in the Swamp that year too. I think the worst career move he made was leaving UT. His career and the UT program would be much better today had he stayed there

I'd take him as HC over Orgeron.

If they can't spell his name right, he's not high enough on anyone's list.

Are you high? Bet you're not on anyone's list.

I think he was ok a Tenn. He didn't have much of a chance at USC with the sanctions. At both stops he was probably a bit young and immature.

I would think he's learned quite a bit with extra age, experience, and coaching with Saban.

Coaches should get better as they learn from their mistakes. I think he'll probably be successful at his next stop.

EXACTLY.

And given the response of the board to Ogre's potential HC hire, the OP makes a valid point.

Everyone seems to think Ogre is terrible based on past HC experience, why not judge Kiffen like wise?

saban had msu at #5 before he left. I'd say that he can do wonders with mediocre talent.
