Personnel wise they really miss Prosch and Robinson on offense. Also, CAP isn't on the same level as Mason was last year. Defensively, they're missing a pass rusher on the DL. Who knows how their season would be going had Lawson not gotten hurt. But still, that secondary is pretty bad. I do think a pass rush would cover up that weakness a bit.

Psychologically, it's hard to play every week with the target on your back. The margin for error is just so small in this league. Couple that with a brutal October schedule.

Never thought they'd lose to A&M, nor get blown out by UGA, but them sitting at 3 losses heading into the Iron Bowl is not that big of a surprise.

You've got almost all the rhetoric in one post...but you left out the high school part. Fix it please.

Their luck ran out and the refs finally started calling holding on their OL.

CAP isn't really a reason for Auburn's problems. He is pretty much right on pace with Tre Mason last year and that is with him playing behind a worse offensive line

Funny how angry the leghumpers and gumps are about AU. Luck, luck, luck, luck, luck.

Not sure if both are too stupid to come up with anything else or just too angry about last year to come up with anything sensible.

Probably both I suppose.

Disagree. When Auburn started peaking late in the season last year, you could almost count on Mason to get 5+ yards on 1st down. CAP has been very inconsistent the past few weeks on 1st down. That entire offense is based on getting 5+ yards on 1st down. CAP may end up with similar yards, but he is not the gamer Mason was last year.

Agree though that Mason had a better OL than CAP has this season, but still think Mason is just on a different level than CAP.

I remember Saban saying before the Iron Bowl last year that Prosch was the key to Auburn's offense.

I think his lead blocking was key but he was also an inspirational leader on the team with the way he handled his mother's death.

How does that explain the Aggie loss?

The rough schedule and lots of turnovers.

Replacing Prosch is another area where injuries have been a factor. He is not well known even among a lot of Auburn fans, but I am pretty sure the coaches considered Gage Batten to be the leading candidate or one of the leading candidates to replace Prosch. However, he got injured during preseason practice and has missed the entire season

Luck didn't run dry. It was transferred to Florida State in some witchcraft ceremony in the desert.

I mean shite, we are dead last in the SEC in both turnover margin and penalties. Throw in the toughest schedule in the nation and you get what you get no matter how good you are otherwise.

LSU made Ole Miss quit

Texas A&M made Auburn quit

It's that simple

Penalties.

The worst penalty yards/game in the conference. 114th in the nation.

According to ITAT, it's only because of the crooked refs. ;p

Tre Mason. Without him, Auburn loses 5 games last year.

Penalties, turnovers are product of discipline. This team seems less disciplined than last year.

The o-line is considerably weaker. Last year's AU o-line was one of the best in the nation. This year's AU o-line is middle of the pack in the SEC.

Their secondary hasn't gotten better at all and has, perhaps, regressed.

The road schedule has been tough and that is a factor, but losing to A&M at home when you're a 23 point favorite and completely no-showing against UGA were just inexpiable and unacceptable.

sometimes you lose games you're supposed to win. I don't think it's much deeper than that.
