I'm with you. I wasn't back in Alabama until the end of the 80's but this entitlement attitude of UAB and its twenty fans has driven me to never ever want to even give them any credibility by agreeing to play them.

Afraid is not even a thought. I got sick of the whining and crying because the system wouldn't build them a stadium or make more than 10,000 show up at a football game.

What a ridiculous argument. How much do you think we would pay UAB to play us? I'd wager it would be less than $750k. UAB would make over a million by travelling OOS to play someone.

I can tell you don't run a business.

A) whatever we pay UAB it's essentially a net zero intrasystem transfer that has the desirable side effect of growing another brand within the UA system. The Toyota/Lexus, VW/Audi, Nissan/Infiniti, etc.. can coexist, thrive, and not diminish each other, just like UA and UAB can.

B) whatever we settled on as the nominal fee for UAB, it's dramatically less expensive to commute 100+ players, staff, and equipment 48 miles by bus then to Columbus, OH or Lincoln, NE by plane.

While we probably agree that UAB playing football is a horrible financial decision, if we've been forced to do a 180 on it, the UA system should make an effort to support it, particularly in the context of simply scheduling it for nearby competition that's low cost to schedule and travel to.
