Georgia, Bama and AU.

Those three teams pretty much kicked UT out of Georgia recruiting which is where they have traditionally built their team's roster. Tennessee doesnt have an in state recruiting base.

Phat Phil could bring in top classes using inroads into Georgia and Florida. Bama, UGA and AU have shut down those pipelines pretty much so UT flounders around hoping for the next great recruiter that can go into Georgia and Florida and actually win some battles for players.

While TN recruiting certainly fell for a while from 2004ish-2013 time frame from what it was from 89-2003 it really is not the root or really even cause of the problem.

All of the staff's have brought good enough talent in to win. It has mainly been lack of development at the end of Fulmer era into the Kiffin and Dooley quick kicks that led to the losses.

You can't change that much and expect players to come in and A. get better over a four year period or B. even be still in school that long.

He can't lose a game like he did vs Florida this year again.

That loss was inexcusable.

Man it was a tough loss, but when you are rebuilding and have a short stack those things happen.

Should we have won that game? Yes, but in the two years Butch has been here that is only the second game that we should have won that we didn't.

How many games did Fulmer lose that we shouldn't have? Hell Kiffin lost two games his one year that we shouldn't have lost.

Those losses look way worse when they are surrounded by lots of other losses to teams we have no business playing against.

I made a post last week but our West draw and OOC games have not made this rebuild any easier. We have had the hardest East schedule for 4 or 5 years straight by far.

Phil and Spurrier...why does no Karma go to Steve? Maybe it is all being packed into the last two years for the Gators?

What has Steve Spurrier won since 2001, besides a few ballgames?

Fulmer should have been fired after 2005.

Tennessee is 0-4 vs. Will Muschamp's Gators. Let that sink in.

Recruits that would be going to TN and therefore wins that would've gone to TN.

Wow, that's a worse streak than LSU's even been through.

The Tigers are gaining on Tennessee for that #2 spot in the SEC.

Because he wasn't a secret witness in the NCAA's investigation of Alabama.

There are a lot of parallels to the Ed Orgeron era at Ole Miss and the Butch Jones era at UT. This consists of great recruiting classes, a bunch of moral victories, and fans tired of losing. Hopefully Butch will have a chance to develop the players that he recruited.

What the frick? We could definitely blame coaching, but even Mike DuBose won an SEC Championship, and Mike Shula won 10 games.

Hell, Muschamp had a 12 win season.

Surprised no one has mentioned Mike Hamilton.

The program could have survived Fulmer's decline.

They might have even been able to recover more quickly from Kiffin's sudden departure.

Mike Hamilton made a succession of bad decisions. I would suggest that he's the biggest reason outside of the rise other teams in the conference.
