stability is important to a big time football school like lsu(2 natl champs this decade). I feel with gonzales now on board everyone on the staff knows and realizes whats at stake. they have heard the spoiled fans piss and moan and i think they will perform on the field this year. les miles will enter into only his 10th year as a headcoach so he has kinda been an on the job training project as well. He has still managed to produce top notch recruiting classes, build relationships in places besides louisiana. when it all comes together it will be awesome. i think nick saban has set a standard by which not only fans like but coaches want to be like. With a better personality with the parents and high school coaches i think les miles will have the chance to be a top notch coach. i think he has 2 more years to prove all of this. If there is no improvement then he will be fired. I am sure he understands this and he along with his staff are going to work their butts off and bring lsu back to compete for the natl title.

Because he's gonna help us reel in an SEC Championship this year!

There is a chance it has gotten worse just because of the youth and lack of depth at the QB and OL postitions.

2008 - RP screwed us
2009 - some bust in OL recruiting and underachievement on the line hurt real bad

It might be all Crowton's fault, but we will fund out for sure this season. If it is as dynamic as 2007 all will be well.

Gary Crowton's unwillingness and inability to get Russel Shepard the ball is borderline criminal. That kid would have TORN IT UP at UF in the Percy position.

That will change this year. He was having trouble picking up the playbook last season and actually cost us (penalties, timeouts) several times when he was on the field.

I think Gonzo will have his hand on the offense alot and may possibly be Crowtons replacement after this season.

Miles deserves some blame, but Crowton is a huge part of the problem. He does not put his best players in a position to make a play, and he continues to stubbornly force plays that just don't work. And at the same time once a play starts working well, he rips it out of the playbook. Remember the QB read play (with Shepard at QB) we ran against UGA? We got a good 5 - 8 yards the 3 times we ran it. Never saw the play again. That's just an example of how Crowton stops doing things that work.

And don't get me started on his playcalling. He defintley should have been fired.

You Bama fans may remember Ridley running for a TD against yall. So what does Crowton do on the next two series with a backup QB in? Pass the ball on 3 straight downs.

There is in argument in sports and business to give someone who has proven skills a chance to succeed. Les and Crowton are under the gun this year.

Not been fired? Judging from statements made by LSU fans toward the end of the season his departure was highly desired. I am very curious what reason Les and Alleva have for not nipping that in the bud? I have heard it's because he was given a raise DURING the season. Is this true?

Because believe it or not Universities don't make decisions on what fans say.... Maybe boosters not fans.

Even so, in a case like LSU's - when the enire support of a program, including it's boosters, fan's, and sportswriters who cover the team, seemed to universally proclaim a need for someone to be fired it's common that the University take action. Take last year with the DC's for example.

When the HC is also considered by many in the fanbase (as well as the college football world) to be an idiot, the need then to offer up a sacrificial lamb becomes even more important. I would think that even though he seems retarded, Les knows he could have pawned some of his own inadequacies off on Crowton and let him take the blame in order to save his own skin. He did this last season with his Co-DC's, so it's not a loyalty issue. I just thought the whole thing was odd, considering how many people wanted Crowton gone. I guess it is all about not wanting to pay the buyout in order to upgrade.

Only you would consider this a flame. Is it a flame to call Nick Saban short?

This has been Crowton's MO at every stop. Louisiana Tech. BYU. Oregon. The Chicago Bears. And now LSU.

Its a pattern. He shows up, sets records in his first year, and then tails off to the point of getting fired by his third year.

Seriously.

Did you happen to catch Shep getting blasted on his first couple of carries? Dude wasn't used to that kind of contact, even in the Houston 5A league.

Nobody in HS could catch him. Now in college, he's going to have to adapt.

I am reminded of Greg Davis circa 2002....UT fans were calling for his head. The pro-set running offense just wasn't working against great defenses like OU.

Then in comes Vince Young, and Greg Davis adopts a spread read option. They win the title. Then Colt McCoy follows VY and continues to have success with that offense.

Now people think Davis is a genius. Just goes to show.
