We're gonna return 20 starters next year (and will still have only 2 senior starters in 2012) and get Bray/Hunter.

Why kill that potential by starting over again after only two years?

Vols fans seem to have this theory that if a coaching change is made, all the players are just going to bail. It would be funny if I wasn't a Tennessee fan.

Would a coaching change lead to some attrition? Sure, but the situation wouldn't be nearly as bad as the last time.

Ok and I believe Vandy was favored in 08'. Tennessee won that game too.

You aren't accounting for starting over on the recruiting class, which is shaping up nicely, and introducing brand new coaches and schemes, which take years to take full effect.

It's nonsensical to let Dooley walk into the situation he did, and not give him the 4 years.

The team he left at LA Tech just blew out Ole Miss!

Y'all always said he did more with less....

Beating a Division 2 team isn't that impressive

Don't you know that Saban sends these "wolves among the sheep" to sabotage their programs.
They are beholding to St. Nick for life.

Dooley @ TN; Muschamp @ FL; He allowed Dantonio to be decent except for when they play Bama.

When Vandy hired James Franklin Vanderbilt University officials stated they are ready to pay the $$ needed to compete in the SEC.
I suspect that statement will be tested sooner than later.

Dooley is in the Hot Seat b/c he can't even fill the stands. I can't remember when TN couldn't fill the stands even when they were bad.

Coaches Job is to Produce a team that sales tickets.

So I agree Dooley has to go.

The shame of it is the Kiffin disaster really set the Vols back.
Consider this- if Tennessee was only 1 coach removed from Fulmer, they likely would still have enough cred to go get a really good coach from somewhere. Most mid-level schools (middle of the pack in major conferences, good mid-majors etc) would be vulnerable.

But by grabbing Dooley, things got a lot worse.

You are aware that Franklin is a first year coach at a school that went 2-10 last year, yes?

I'm not mad at Dooley. He hasn't shown much progress, but it's hard when the team lacks this much talent.

I'll give him two more years.

It's pathetic and embarrassing but with our injuries it's hard to blame Dooley. It's not his fault our starting QB and WR (that were 95% of our offense) went down early in the year.

this might be true. He did nominate Houston Nutt to replace him at LSU

It's still not remotely the same. Kiffin kicked a bunch of guys out, a bunch of Kiffin's recruits have been kicked out, and Fulmer's guys had little talent. Also, Dooley was hired right before signing day. It wouldn't be nearly the same.

I am actually a Dooley believer. I think he is rebuilding that program the right way with the right kind of players and scheme. It just takes time. Kiffin left him quite the clusterfrick of thugs and no depth.

With Bray and Hunter back next year and the basically the entire team returning I think they'll be pretty formidable next year. Their recruiting class is pretty underrated too IMO.

I hate saying this shite because I hate UT, but I think they should definitely give Dooley next year and maybe the year after before they jump the gun and fire him.

If the Vols fire Dooley after 2 years, It will be a program lost for years to come. But as a LSU fan, be my guest.
