There really isn't a positive for Arky to play A-State.
State would be jacked up and the Hogs would be in a no win. If you beat them by 50 you were supposed to win. Beat them by less than 2 scores and suddenly every one in the state thinks there's a rivalry. If A-State happened to win, the world might come to an end from the rioting and looting on both campuses. No win situation for the Razorbacks.

From this list, it seems that no one plays really smaller non-conference in-state schools.
Florida St, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Baylor are certainly a completely different dynamic.
Even though Southern Miss, Louisville, Memphis and Tulane are in smaller conference they have certainly been on a different historical level than UAB, Arkansas St etc. . .

wifes granfather is a die hard Auburn fan...attained his degree from there...they have the Auburn logo enlayed in their hardwood in the foyer of their house....you know whay he says that Auburn won't play Troy?...who is literally right down the road?

Probably not relevant. Bama may be paying the money to FAU instead of UAB, Troy, or Samford, but those schools are getting paid by Arkansas, TCU, and Georgia, so it's probably a wash.
