I live in TN and have dealt with bandwagon bama fans for years. I know a number of good ones, but yall need to realize that bad news spreads faster than good news, and just live with it.

And to be clear, I don't think Bama has a problem with it's fans. I just think yalls bad 10% is worse than anyone else's 10%, that I've come across.

And to pile on some more, a former bama player who beat LSU in 2011 is one of my closest friends

Since there's no NFL team here, all the 'people' who have no real connection to either school (the less educated Updyke types), they back bama. Moreover, since bama carries the state's name, that and Bear Bryant's past successes appeal to them.
When it comes to AU fans, usually they have some sort of connection to the school (either they or family attended).
All fan bases have some nut cases, but IMO, this is why bama has more of them.
