Stidham and such. Pretty funny LSU has better odds than the entire east division at number 2

Because if you manage to win the west, your chances of beating the east opponent are pretty damn good.

The East is a mess. That's not a secret. The media is already crowning UGA the favorite and they have big questions at OL and WR alongside a QB who has seemingly limitless potential but tons to prove. Florida has had an anemic offense for years and a monster defense but they lose quite a bit on defense. Tennessee is in the midst of a QB battle and has to fill other key positions. The rest are either a year or two away from regaining depth and competitiveness or simply never going to compete beyond the occasional off year.

In fairness, UF did beat LSU. Last season, there wasn't much difference between East and West with the exception of Alabama.

It is simple Germantown and you are told this every year in the spring and every year LSU loses 4 games and ends up middle-of-the-pack in the SECwest. The "odds" have nothing to do with the likely outcome, and the Vegas "favorite" doesn't have much to do with team strength either.

"Odds" are just that.. gambling odds set to balance the bets on either side. LSU fans are traditionally ever-hopeful and optimistic this time of year. Those fans also gamble and will put bucks betting on LSU. Lots of money on LSU moves the gambling "odds" on LSU lower to balance the betting spread. It is simple isn't it?

Now does that have anything to do with how strong LSU actually is? Hummmm...Oh well.. just go bet on LSU with those odds. The bookies are not stupid and are begging you to put your money down.

We all know Stidham is the best QB to play in the SEC since Cam.

Because LSU is better than every team in the SEC not named Bama, and everyone outside the SEC knows it. Also, this thread was created to drive that point home to all the other SEC teams despite their constant claiming that LSU is overrated.

LSU had strong odds for winning the SEC title last year too. They returned 18 starters from the previous year, had a strong Heisman candidate in the stable at RB leading a run first offense and a top shelf defense to go with it.

Kinda, kinda. While everything you wrote is technically correct and somebody needed to spell out, I doubt the LSU fans are gambling in sufficient bulk to outweigh the entire field minus Bama. There are other factors and other gamblers. The line isn't arbitrary. It's set, and then the gamblers start moving it. Nobody ever has set Vandy up as having good SEC title odds, for instance.

Honestly, it can be said that LSU's odds have never been wrong. Odds can't be "wrong" in that sense. If you're the odds-on favorite to win the SEC five years in a row, for example, and never do, that just means the odds have been bucked somewhere each season.
