It has become political, lately. (Thanks ESPN).

This year we have a legitimate contest though. You can make a case for four players, maybe five.

Absolutely, but you do know that not even John Heisman had Heisman years at Auburn. He left Auburn (stepping stone) to go to Clemson. Much like Will Muschamp was going to leave the Auburn DC to be a DC somewhere else.

Auburn wanting to claim John Heisman as some sort of "Look at us, we're elite because John Heisman coached here" is like Maryland claiming Bryant. Both Maryland and Auburn were stepping stones for each coach.
