Simple. Cannot give Atlanta to the ACC.

And before they added all the other teams, Atlanta was pretty much central of all schools.

Atlanta is the capital of the South. It needs to stay there. There’s nowhere else it could go, except for maybe Nashville. Houston is way too far south and east. New Orleans is a dump. Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa are possibilities but again, geographically it doesn’t make sense. Atlanta is and should be the only option.

Houston is south and east...of Denver.

not quite; in one of the years they went they lost at home to uga 34-0.

So maybe, "beat them but if you can't, pray for a miracle and you can go yourself".

This is really simple.

ATL is THE market of captive eyeballs for the SEC.

Its most SEC teams largest alumni base outside their home state.

It’s a new indoor arena for a Dec game

Atlanta is a convention town and already hosts larger events than the SECC. Hotels, flights, restaurant capacity, etc are commensurate with crowds.

The game has been there for near 30 years without incident.

The SEC will not take the risk of losing ATL as a host site to the ACC.

I’m not opposed to doing it elsewhere if the SEC could keep our priority status at the Benz.

I can assure you that no matter what, the Georgia Dome will not see another championship game.

TV reception is the same from Atlanta as anywhere else so I don't see how having the game at the Benz has any affect on these fanbases.

If it moves, the only thing that makes sense is a rotation with Atlanta and Dallas. NOLA already has plenty of SEC action. Nashville just bleeds SEC kids off from Atlanta and now Dallas and isn't a significant hub of SEC influence in any way. Houston isn't as central for the newcomers and offers nothing Dallas wouldn't offer.

No matter where you put any CG, SOMEBODY will claim it's unfair because _______ team is closest to it.

Y'all know Jerry will throw some money around to try to get the game in Arlington. I'd wager that it's the most watched conference championship game in the entire country, and not just southern folks watching it. I wouldn't be surprised to see it moved to Dallas for a little bit if they do indeed end up rotating. Atlanta made sense before they SEC started expanding more out West, but now with OK, UT, A&M, Ark, Mizzou, a more central location is needed, or just something that isn't so far east.

Why are you worried? MiZzzou hasn't had to make the trip in almost a decade and it took UGA being down in ridiculous fashion for you to back your way into the East as it was.

And, frankly, it's boring for it to be in the same locale every year.
You care where a championship game is played? The locale is what interests you?

I get that Atlanta is somewhat of a central location in the SEC, but not for fans from aTm, Arkansas and Missouri
And how many times have they played in Atlanta for championship game?

Has ATM never played in the SECCG? Surely such a storied program has at least won the west once or twice? Maybe they can rise up to the level of MSU and Missouri one day and represent their division? With Auburn and LSU down, it's now or never.
