Why does Alabama only have 8 seniors?

I keep hearing people say this. Is this because of redshirts, guys going pro as juniors, etc? LSU hardly has any either, so I am not flaming. It seems to be the way of college football now. If you are any good, you don't make it to your senior year. Or, is you do not pan out, you make room for the next guy. I know what happened at LSU. Just wondering how it broke down at Alabama and if this is a pattern elsewhere.

A lot of juniors leaving early for Alabama. Also, there are guys who don't really get to play who just don't stick around for 4-5 years on a lot of teams. Call it "processing" or whatever, but it happens everywhere.
