onsider this matrix, based on my previous experiences:

Georgia born, Auburn grads = hate UGA and BAMA

Insert other Alabama University (Troy) + Auburn fan = don’t understand the rivalry

OLD Alabama high school grads + Auburn fan = only know how to hate Bama

New Alabama HS Auburn Fans hate UGA. I personally thing Mark R. has lost control of the fans and he certainly has lost control of the players actions on the field. (Encouraged thuggish behavior against both Florida and Auburn).

Still with the Rivalry about to a end, now is the time for us to remember the days when Auburn and UGA did not hate each other. The DSOR will be missed...

Yeah I'm confused as well. Not sure when Richt ever encouraged "thuggish" behavior

I'm sure that's what he is referencing, but he couldn't be more wrong. I've explained it a thousand times and don't feel like doing it again, but richt did not tell the team to do what they did.

Im just filling in his blanks by assumptions. I thought he told the players to do so in the Florida game. Obviously he didnt tell them to in the AU game.

I would hardly call that "thuggish," but when did that happen against AU and how did I miss that?

When your team rushed the field to fight after your players chop blocked fairley. like I just said though, I highly doubt richt told them to do that

Oh that. Just a minor skirmish Yeah Richt had nothing to do with that.

In the UF one, he told the offense he wanted to take a celebration penalty as long as it was a group celebration. He didn't anticipate the whole team running out there

I think as a good sign of sportsmanship, both teams should have a danceoff instead of a coin flip this year.

WLOCP and sportsmanship do not mix. DSOR is downright tame compared to that one.

I really find this puzzling. Richt isn't the type that I would see saying he wants an unsportsmanlike penalty. He seems that he plays the game the right way and telling his team that is pretty much saying "i want you to break the rules of sportsmanship to get the team and fans pumped up". It isn't a delay of game penalty. It is a "unsportsmanship" penalty.

I am a fan of Richt, just seems very odd to give that perception to your players that it is ok to commit one of those types of penalties if it gets you pumped up.

He wanted some kind of touchdown celebration like a dance.

To understand that decision, you really have to look back on what UGA's mentality was at the time when playing UF. We had basically spent two decades getting our asses kicked, and UF had every mental edge. Even when UGA was the better team, they'd play tight and usually lose to UF.

That celebration changed UGA's mentality in the rivalry. It's not classy, but it was well-calculated, looking back on it.

Of course Richt didn't tell Ben Jones to be a thug or the rest of the players to be thugs.... He certainly didnt discourage it though
