Why do some SEC teams still have Thursday night regular season games?

It's such a non-power 5 thing to do. Leave that night for a desperate conference to get their teams exposure.
I can maybe understand the opening night one but it's always the same team in that game.

Horse dung. The Thursday night game is a good chance to get seen when no one else is on. Is it as good of a time slot as prime time on Saturday? No.
With the right opponent though its a time that can draw a lot of viewers.

Yeah. I hate being the first game of the season and having the whole country watching.. (Last year I really did)

Because TV asks for it and some teams feel like nobody knows who they are unless there isnt another team playing.

I really dont know. We got put in one this year against Auburn, first ever Thursday nighter for UK. Wish it were on Saturday like it should be, but I'll still be at the game all the same.

If I was a gator fan I wouldn't want to be the only team to be seen with the lousy product being put on the field.

Seem to remember that Thursday night when UK was looking to pound SC, then it started rainy and all hell broke loose.

Thank God the Dawgs have never lowered themselves to this desperate attempt at recognition.

reality check, we brag about getting the biggest TV contracts and turning the most revenue - right? Well, this is a big part of that...
I agree with you in principle, but TV revenues are the oil that keeps the big engine purring.

Whattttt?
1999 State beat Kentucky on Thursday night to move to 8-0 on the season

I think the UK-Auburn game starts UK's Fall Break that week too. Don't know what difference that will make or if that was a factor in the decision to put the game on a Thursday.
