You return 8 starters, and the rest of the sec west besides Alabama(11) and auburn (14) returns 16+.

That's why.

Unnecessary thread. Much better thread would be who finishes 6th.

Did State fans ever make these threads pre-Mullen?

Because y'all are Mississippi State. No but really yall lost a lot and just cause you have Dak back doesn't mean anything. Y'all have the least talent of all the teams in the west and y'all just can't compete year in and year out. Improve your recruiting and you'll be able to compete rather than competing a little bit every 4 years

We have. According to the recruiting rankings, every player State lost to the draft or graduation is being replaced with an equal or higher-ranked player. Several are 2-star players being replaced by 4-star players.

The new guys may have less experience than those lost, but more 'talent'.

They only lost a few players? Not half of the starters? The west is strong and Prescott is the great but if he gets injured behind the new OL then MSU is done.

Prescott has been involved in a few scuffles since the offseasom began. Only one made the news.

Because nobody in the SECW is bad, and somebody has to finish 7th. Honestly, it could be anybody except Auburn or Alabama, IMO. More likely would be a 3-way tie for fifth.

Most people realize last year was tLandmass's glory year. Both teams fall back to the the earth this year.

Auburn is certainly getting too much leeway.

Not sure how to explain it further. Football players get things covered up?

Someone has to be last and the media has just gone to the default position. Just beat LSU the second week.

Read this Wikipedia page to understand why:

The problem with EITHER of the Mississippi teams being more than a flash in the pan is that someone has to do worse in order for yall to do better. Lets take a look:

Alabama- Ole Miss beat them last year, but by the recruiting rankings this is the most talented team maybe of all time. Hard to expect less from them.

Auburn- Better than Landmass recruiting, and got the hottest defensive coordinator in the country

Arkansas- Was playing lights out at the end of last year. I think they are overrated on here because they play "SEC-Style Football" and some people get off on that, but the truth is few expect them to be worse this year and they WERE last.

LSU- Plenty of talent (second to Bama) keeps them from permanently sinking below the landmass

A&M- This is the team most landmass fans are pretty much counting on to take a dive because SOMEONE has to in order for them to do better. The problem with this logic is:

1. A&M is a more talented team than either landmass team, now with a better defensive coordinator than either has

2. If we do as bad as landmass schools NEED us to do this season to rise (like missed a bowl this year bad) then we take our money and hire a goddamn superstar coach that will crush them under his boot for like five years

tldr: this division sucks for Landmass schools, and the only way to have hope is to believe some unlikely events will take place. Most reasonable people won't do that, so Landmass finishes last in the SEC West.

The fun part is the season starts and the debating can end soon.
