Why do people on this board use the term Yankee as an insult?

Because the south will rise again... not that it was ever really in a high place anyway

Why do you want confirmation from a bunch of 'losers'? Stay in St. Louis and remain a Yankee, but you're a goddamn Yankee whenever you head south.

As an intelligent, well educated man from the South, I've always hated that word. Not because of any connotations the word has. I just usually hear the biggest rednecks use it in a conversation. It just sounds ignorant, especially considering Europeans refer to all Americans as Yankees.

It's never bothered me. Yankees are always winners. It's an affectionate term given to the winning team and teammates beginning with the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and both World Wars. It is a name for excellence, dominance, and true patriotism.

Anyone that dignifies this blue-bellied son of a bitch with a legitimate response is a goddamned scalawag.

The perception in the South is that Yankees are in general a strange, unfriendly group with little personality.

Because they're against states rights. No other major country in the history of the world fought a civil war to make slavery illegal, so it's quite dumb of you to think we did the same.
