Please let us know when LSU catches up to Bama in the number of times Bama has played UGA/UF

LSU caught up to the number of times Alabama has played Florida 17 games ago (43 for Alabama, 60 for LSU).

Congrats on your segregation era dominance, I guess. Must suck to have a losing record to little ole irrelevant LSU over the last four decades.

We integrated long before LSU so you may want to define that Era.

Must suck to have drastically less head to head wins, all time wins, bowl wins, national championships, SEC championships, consensus all americans, and only beat Derek Dooley because of too many players on the field in the last meeting.

Exhales, Feels good man.

The series is 10-10-1 since expansion/permanent opponents were established. Hardly a weak rivalry.

Shhh....

You're hurting the LSU narrative.

Because Bama and Tenn were the two best SEC programs for such a long period of time. Coach Bryant considered it the biggest game on our schedule (which had a lot to do with the fact of him not being able to beat General Neyland). It was such an important game that the winner started lighting up cigars when they won. But it use to be a somewhat civil, fun rivalry.

Then the whole fat Phil turning secret witness during the whole Means ordeal, and him telling recruits that Bama would be out of business in 5 years left a huge sour taste in the mouth of most Bama fans. Then throw on top of that the fact that UT was in the middle of a huge win streak against us, and the hate just festered until the tables turned and Bama started whipping up on UT.

I think the hatred that Bama fans had is dying down somewhat, but there is still a strong sense that it is still a huge rivalry for us since it has been one for so many decades dating back to the late 50s/early 60s.

We first met on the field more than 100 years ago and have been playing each other every season for the last 85 years.

I would have erased 2011 from my mind if I was a vol too.

Congrats on having played one of the East powers more, but I asked about combined. Still got a few more years of the REC bridge schedule before LSU catches up and schedules are fair. Even though they have historically been the best program of the East, because of their recent troubles I didn't include UT in this, but if you throw in UT the disparity is even greater between the number of times Bama and LSU have played the top programs in the East

No, not really. Again, I was born in 1986. Since I've been alive, LSU has been better. Since I've started thinking about where I should attend college, LSU has been much better. I started LSU in the fall of 2004. I can't say that I spend much time thinking about how Tennessee was a great program before black people could even play football. But if that's what you want to hang your hat on, go ahead I guess.

True, but I don't think the rivalry got big for both schools until the Bryant/Neyland years.

Seems like college football is pretty important to you, too.

I love the people who have an oh-so-balanced view of life, and pretend that other fanbases somehow live and die over college football.

So games played before the polio vaccine was discovered are relevant to today's scheduling and football programs? Impeccable logic.

I didn't realize you were doing so. Hopefully you aren't equating Florida and Georgia, though. Or Florida and Tennessee during the past several decades, for that matter.

The great majority of my posts aren't about football, FWIW. Most were acquired during law school and since I've been working for myself. But i do agree that I shouldn't post as much. I recently turned 27 - too old to be spending much time here really. If I'm posting here by the time I'm 30, I'll need to do a serious re-evaluation.

He said that the game affects his life in a major way 365 days a year and that he doesn't talk to his dad leading up to the game or for a while after the game if his favorite team loses. I can't even fathom that.

East, Tennessee was never as segregated as the rest of the South -- we had the first newspaper dedicated solely to abolishing slavery in the entire Union (before the North), were considered the freest soil to speak of abolition, and were pro-Union in the civil war. In fact, we operated the Highland Center (still exists) where Rosa Parks received training just before her famous refusal to give up her seat. MLK and many other Civil Rights leaders were also there and a part of Highland.
