When I was a kid, the confederate flag was like this cool symbol associated with normal southern culture... But at some point, there was a separation between super rednecks and somewhat educated moderate southern people and they turned it into this extremely divisive logo of hatred and ignorance.
It happened sometime between the Dukes of Hazzard being canceled and like 2000.
Blame racist crackers. They ruined a cool thing for everybody.

As long as Mizzou is part of the SEC, this question should never be asked of another SEC team. OM did the best they could and I don't recall any notable OM players complaining about Ole Col Reb and the confederate battle flags..when they had every right to. Mizzou players literally boycotted football because the University president didn't react strongly enough to racist events that never actually happened....and hit a guy with his car (the guy actually ran in front of the car that was stationary at the time and jumped on the hood, there's video)..and then went into the full blown throes of orgasmic SJW hysteria. There is no comparison whatsoever. Call OM cheaters if you want, but 100% of SJW critique should now and forever be reserved for Mizzou.

In the 90s when question was first surfaced, a poll was done asking African Americans if the confederate flag was offensive to them. Over 90% said no. And responses were pretty much astonishnentvat such a stupid qyestion.
After years of training, the poll has reversed people just needed ti ve told how they SHOULD be offended. They just didnt know they were offended.
Its just a flag. An inanimate object. As are all these controversial symbols. If symbols cause you pain, well.......
People, that matured before the 2000s, I guess knew this. Now, its much less offensive and harmful to just riot, stomp your feet, and destroy property that isnt yours.

I actually heard a radio interview a few months ago about how blacks cant be racist. I was floored how delusional these radicals have gotten. And one was a city official. I guess thats why they fight the confederate flag, but lift the "black power" fists without condemnation.
