Why did Ole Miss allow itself to be taken over by SJW culture?

They turned their backs on so many cool old Southern traditions in such a short period of time.

Not sure I'd characterize a mascot as a "cool southern tradition."

They used to be my second favorite SEC team back when they played Dixie and had Colonel Reb roaming the sidelines. But they knuckled under and gave up everything that made them unique. Now they're just some boring fricking bear.

The ONLY thing that has ever been cool about Ole Miss was them being mentioned in a Billy Joel song.

We are not proud of the reason we were mentioned in the song:
1962
The University of Mississippi ("Ole Miss") admitted its first black or African-American student, James Meredith, with U.S. Marshals enforcing the rules to integrate the school.
The U.S. Attorney General, Robert Kennedy, negotiated intensely with Missippi Governor, Ross Barnett, who eventually agreed to let Meredith enroll in the university. Many white students and segregationists protested his enrollment by rioting on the Oxford campus.
Robert Kennedy called in 500 U.S. Marshals to take control. They were were supported by the 70th U.S. Army Combat Battalion. To bolster law enforcement, President Kennedy also sent U.S. troops from the U.S. 2nd Infantry Division and activated the Mississippi National Guard. There was an incident with the commanding general and his aides being trapped in a car outside the university. The car was set afire and 40 soldiers and National Guardsmen were wounded. Meredith's entry is regarded as another pivotal moment in the history of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement.

Used to love seeing Ole Miss come into Tiger Stadium with the Rebel Flags, Colonel Reb and several versions of Dixie.
Most LSU fans did, even though OM was our #1 hated Rival. (The only ones that didn't fall into the ultra libtard category)
So, it gives me great pleasure to see Massa Wife going down in flames.
Cheaters and Cowards!
What goes around, comes around. Karma's a bitch!

You guys know they had no choice but to remove colonel reb right? Any of us would have done the same thing or accepted the fact that black kids may not even visit the school.

You know what is funny? Not only did MSU allow the first black athlete in the state or hire the first black coach, but look up history, we snuck a basketball team out of the state to play a game at a time when black players were forbidden to play. We've been ahead of Ole Miss forever which makes me wonder why black players instate go there.

As a black person, who loves CFB as much as the next. This thread is disgusting.
And btw, I've never seen confederate flags in Death Valley, and I hope to God that it stays that way. Fuuuucck that.....

The basic things they said they were doing, then tossed out the window.
