I'm very glad they didn't go get Mullen. He was one of the 5 guys that I thought could make LSU an absolute monster.

Most likely so they could keep recruits. As soon as O was named HC we locked up a 4 star QB recruit.

laugh, but Mullen, Fleck, Taggart, Fedora or Fuente all would have brought an offense that would have put full use of Louisiana's homegrown talent on the offensive side.

My best guess, if he doesn't work out with a year or two then he is hoping to have Aranda available for promotion. I cannot believe he wasn't considered and probably declined it at this time. Aranda will let the turmoil subside then step up if needed. This is my guess

Easy answer. No money and Coach O will work cheap. Could not afford a money battle with Texas.
Other big names ie Fedora, Petrino etc would ask for a lot of money too. (plus it would be embarrassing to hire a College Station native Fedora.)
Three years with Coach O and they will have enough money saved to go after a big name.
Not a slam, just good economics.
