IIRC, he got a DUI (his fifth or sixth) right after the horrific accident which resulted in Siran Stacy's wife and a couple of his children passing away.
For the record, that moment Siran Stacy brought out the game bowl in the 2008 Iron Bowl will have you in tears on a Sunday morning.

I met the snake half a dozen times as a kid growing up in mobile/gulf shores. He was very sociable and loved people. He is the only bama player I've ever asked for an autograph from.

It's pretty common knowledge Stabler had an issue with alcohol and it ultimately cost him his job. His fault and no one else. But the man is dead so no sense in bringing up negative shite now.
