He's an a-hole to work for. He overworks and berates his coaches. He chews out volunteer staffers. He generally treats people like shite. First better opportunity, they bolt. But, he can also rehabilitate a career, so he can still pick up decent talent that is down on their luck.

LSU fans know Saban better than anyone on this planet. A true battered ex-wife you are.

Yes, some of his offensive coordinators get promoted, but some also leave and make lateral moves (i.e. Nussmeier to Michigan, Sark to NFL).
Is Saban really that difficult to work for? Seems like he likes to burn bridges and doesn't care, he just wants to win.
I guess add coaches to the word PROCESSED.

Yet so many coaches have worked multiple stints with him.
Bc he is fair. Some people may not work well being upright all the time, however he will teach you the exact ins and outs of the business and give you a fair shot to succeed.

Why couldn't Florida keep Meyer?

He likes to keep things fresh

Like Kirby Smart did?
I guess Pruett didn't realize how hard he was to work for the first time, right?

It's obvious that he just doesn't know what he is doing. Duh...

Not a lateral move

Then why coaches who have been under him in the past jump at a chance to come back and be part of his staff at Alabama.

Probably ain't easy, but being the best at what you do ain't supposed to be easy.

You telling us they're some head coaches out there who are cool with losing?
You need to cinch up your jorts baw.

Forget Nussmeier and Sark. Ask your old coach why.

SPLIT WITH SABAN Another factor in his abrupt departure from the NFL was a break in the respect between him and Saban. Saban's gruff manner - "he's never going to be your friend," one former assistant said this spring - and unwillingness to give Muschamp full control of the defense contributed to the rift. One example of the deterioration between the two was Saban reprimanding Muschamp's mother over the phone during the off-season. While Will Muschamp and his wife were on vacation in the Bahamas, his parents, Larry and Sally Muschamp, were babysitting their children in Coral Springs when an angry Saban called the house. He needed a particular document from Muschamp, and ordered Sally to fax it to him. Not finding a fax machine in her son's home, Sally drove to an office supply store to send it. Thirty minutes later, Saban had not received it and called again. He had given her the wrong number, Sally said. "Where's that fax?" Saban barked. "Get it to me now." Larry, by far the more easygoing of Muschamp's parents, was irate. "That son of a bitch," he said. "I'm surprised she didn't say, 'When it gets there, put it where the sun don't shine.' She didn't. But that's Saban.

So you are saying that Nick Saban can be an a-hole and that he takes his job to seriously? Geez guy, that's some breaking news right there. Tell us more please. ....

From article found in the post you linked to:
quote:
Mike Muschamp, Will's oldest brother, added, "If you ask Will for the guys who had the most influence on him, I think Nick would be the first guy he'd talk about."
Nick keeps coaches for as long as anyone else. He extremely rarely publicly fires or "assigns to an off field role" any of his coaches. Many move on for better opportunities, and some are given the opportunity to find another job before being let go (see Applewhite, Major leaving the job of OC at Bama to take the RB coaching position at Texas)

I'm not saying anything frickstick. I just posted a quote. You can draw your own conclusions.

I don't doubt that for a second. Even the worst boss you could ever have can be a huge "influence". 95% of what that boss does can be positive. It only takes that other 5% to make working for him a nightmare.

Kirby smart worked for him for a decade. Coach Mac worked for him for 4 seasons then became a head coach. Kiffin worked for him for 3 seasons. Nuss was told to find other work. Name me one successful college program that has kept a whole choaching staff in tact for more than two or three seasons?
