Yeah, that's something I pretty much refuse to do. Seems rather pathetic. More interested in the traditions and history of LSU as an institution than what teenagers are doing in their personal lives.

I'm a retired automobile dealer living on the gulf coast. I've been very successful/blessed financially, and as a previous poster suggested, CFB is a hobby. I also follow nearly all Alabama athletics and along with playing golf 3 days a week, I am contented...does that help?

I think they disappoint equally. Mostly because a great contingent of your fanbase and others always need more success even after reaching the pinnacle. Where do you go from here?

The couple of weeks in 2009 when Ole Miss was ranked in the top 5 was the most worthless period of time in my entire history as a fan. I invested emotionally and was torn to shreds as a result.
Since that realization, my life and my fanhood are in a much better place.

No, they really don't. Since 2008 I can't remember a loss I was truly devastated over. Heck...I have never been ripped apart by any loss since I've followed Alabama football. The worst day of my life as a fan was when Rich Rodriguez turned us down. Of course, in hindsight, it was the greatest thing that could have happened to us. But that day is probably the closest I have come to how you felt when Ole Miss lost to Alabama in 2009.

It was actually the South Carolina game. I don't even think Ole Miss was ranked when they played Bama in 2009. If they were, it wasn't any higher than the 20s.

Isn't this why Spurrier left UF? IIRC, he said the fanbase became unbearable when the wins weren't "good enough."

Well...as dominant as Spurrier was at Florida, he really never truly dominated on a national scale. He had some amazing teams, teams among the best in our conference's history, but he never had an undefeated season and kind of backed into the one national championship he won at Florida. It wasn't enough to dominate the conference and finish in the Top 10 every year by the end of his tenure. They wanted to take that next step.
