Obviously having the 9th game be a rotating is an option, but with that you're either losing the Iron Bowl, or TSIO, and neither option would ever have enough support to be passed.

Which is why we need to come East too, and then we can have 9 Games, 6 in division and 3 rotations. TSIO and SOR are both divisional games, no more need for permanent crossover.

LSU would win the West every single year if that happened.

No can do my man. That would mean we would have to move to the west and play Bama every year. That's bad for business.

Well, they wouldn't have won the West last year for one.

And then that leaves 5 of the big 6 in the East, and since everything in sports is cyclical it can be expected that the West would end exponentially worse than the East has been as of late. It would be LSU's division to lose every single season.

Honestly, they just need to scrap divisions and play 9 round robin games based on some sort of strength of schedule ratings like they do in the NFL plus a couple of permanent opponents.

This makes sense. But assuming LSU would then become Alabama's annual cross-divisional opponent, that would force Bama to play everyone else in the Big 6, every single year.

Can you imagine a schedule that included Auburn, LSU, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee annually? I know teams have faced this type of gauntlet every now and then.... but to become an annual thing would be very difficult, IMO. And while he would never complain in public, I have a hard time thinking Saban would sign on to a schedule like that.

I think in that scenario you make Mississippi State Alabama's permanent crossover. Longer history, two closest schools in the league.

LSU's permanent crossover either remains Florida or gets moved to Auburn.

That would work, but it would put either Auburn or Florida in the same scenario of having to play the entire "Big 6" on a permanent basis.

If we ignore geography, we should just swap Auburn and Temnessee. Problem solved.

Frick that. We are not giving up UT. That's 1 W we mark down every year.

i thought the reason the SEC hasn't done this yet is due to the possibility of having back to back Iron Bowls (regular season/SEC Champ Game)?

Bama wants Auburn in the West. That's all you need to know.

Or you know just wait a few years...Bama was down in the mid 90s, and it hurt the West, Florida not being were it should be Hurts the East. Long-term the only real inbalance is Tennessee not countering Auburn Otherwise since divisional play started the teams balance well.

Florida-Alabama- Back and Forth- initially even, then heavily favored Florida, then even now favors Bama

Georgia-LSU-- back and forth

etc.

Tennessee has played Kentucky far more times than they have played Florida, it would be difficult to find a Vol fan who valued the Kentucky rivalry more than their rivalry with Florida.
Wish I could argue. We haven't held up our end of the rivalry and now after three decades of jackass football here, even old time Tennessee fans who can remember when the Beer Barrel was something to be prized just laugh at us.

Obviously Alabama and Florida usually have much bigger ramifications, but there was a time the Kentucky-Tennessee match up drew just as much hatred from both sides. Maybe we'll get it back there one day.

Auburn doesn't want to go to the east because big bad vandy owns them.
