Not saying Chip Brown can't ever be right, but I am saying that he very often isn't right, at least for a writer of his magnitude. I think the bowl game would be lose-lose for A&M because they can't really win anything by beating Texas. If they win, they keep the recruiting edge and it's the beginning of the Strong era so it doesn't matter. If they lose, A&M will be looked at as over the hill, Sumlin will be looked at as an overrated coach, and the recruits will take notice. Not a good situation for A&M.

So the perception is that they are being scared little bitches.

As much as this has been rehashed, I seriously doubt an A&M loss would hurt recruiting more than the constant no thanks by A&M would.

A&M is the better program now so denying a game will look like it's on them no matter whom is actually at fault.

the only way it could happen is if Kansas and Missouri also decided to resume playing and agreed to play on that final weekend

There's a difference, while we do have the greatest rivalry in sports with Kansas their football program is so fricking atrocious right now it'd be on the level of scheduling a FBS team.

What are you talking about? The "constant" no thanks? You do realize 1. TAMU wanted to continue the series; they did not and 2. In 2012 Texas lobbied to not have the Cotton Bowl invite them.

If anything, you are proof that opting not to play an opponent will not matter, perception-wise, as you yourself have forgotten what happened just 2 years ago.

And this before I remind you that, again, this is Chip Brown.

No where near actually losing a game.

I deserve my punishment. Should know better than to allow the riders of coattails get to me. Especially when they are terrified of Kansas.

I was at the TAMU/MU game this week. Went to a pre game party and was asked several times if I was over Kansas. I told them I was over Kansas the minute after Mike Slive introduced us as the 14th member of the SEC. They all nodded and said we were finished with Texas also.

They want to play each other but no one wants to look like a jilted lover who ran back to someone who crapped on them. It will happen just as MU/KU will.

Perhaps the topic needs more (factual) rehashing then, as there has not been one "no thanks", much less multiples.
