I get that they are against the rules.
But why illegal

The same reason a lot of drugs are illegal. They hurt the user. They can kill the user. They increase the odds that the user will hurt others.. The term roid rage exists for a reason.

theyre illegal, like most illicit substances, because they can be homemade and the govt doesnt like not getting their cut.

I wish they were legal just to see what professional sports morphs into. We’d have 280 lbs players with 3% body fat running 4.5’s.

We saw what they did to MLB. No thanks.

Imagine if all the slim kids could become ripped enough so that their muscle matched their mouths. Terrifying.

It didn’t ruin baseball. That year Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were hitting homers was one of the most memorable years ever, and I was a kid. And let’s not pretend the pitchers weren’t juiced up. I never thought Nolan Ryan would leave the game a cheater. But after Barry Bonds head blew up to the size of a watermelon, you could tell it was a huge problem. And I truly believe at least one or 2 of the guys I’ve named will still be allowed into the HOF.

I would not recommend making endocrines at home

Because ..
So, how do steroids cause testicular atrophy?
You’re probably wondering how a substance that’s intended to build bigger muscles causes balls to shrink. The simplest explanation is that when steroids are introduced to the human body, testosterone levels are artificially increased, throwing the body’s hormone cycle out of whack. Consider it similar to a negative feedback loop. Once the body realises it has produced a sufficient level of a specific hormone, it’ll adapt by stopping its natural production. Hence, the tiny balls.
Which explains this …

If steroids were “legal”, then doctors would probably prescribe them vs buying some shite that was made in Mexico or China or Canada. If doctors were prescribing them, then it would probably be in pill or lotion form vs injection. And then the pharmaceutical companies would get in on it. And then the youth would want to take it, or an insane sports dad would give it to their kid. And….I can keep going on what abuse and opportunities would arise if roids were legal.

Because in a sport like football it’s very dangerous for a player not using going up against a player that is. Safety issue!
In baseball it’s a little bit different since it’s not a contact sport. More about integrity of game.

With that “logic”, then alcohol should be banned.

If alcohol gave a competitive advantage it would

Steroids cause very dangerous side effects and most people have no clue how to use them safely even if they didn’t. There are some that could be used safely and effectively, unfortunately like anything else it’s about more and more. The “more” is the dangerous side because it influences users to use much more risky forms of testosterone that cause very dangerous side effects long term. Human growth hormone is a different story and is much safer if taken correctly unless you have cancer or are at high risk of cancer

They tried that once already and it was an unmitigated disaster. I think it is because so many people want to drink socially. Most people I know drink socially. I don’t know of one that takes steroids socially. There are safe and even healthy levels of alcohol consumption. I am not sure that is the case with a lot of steroids.
