The reason so many Bama and UGA fans hate the next paradigm in this sport is because now everyone can do what they’ve been doing. They are losing their advantage. It’s like when they created March Madness and suddenly the dynasties ended over night. The days of Wooden and Saban winning a rigged playoff are over.

As for the poster claiming UGA hasn’t paid players. Dude, you are being laughed at by even UGA fans. I’m in south Georgia and have several former UGA players in my inner circle who are still connected to Kirby (from here). They love to talk about Kirby finally bringing in the bag man system which took them to the next level unlike Richt. They especially laugh at how inexact it is because the QB’s they paid didn’t do it, but a walk on did.

People like you have been saying this same stupid shite for the past 15 years, making all these stupid rules you claim to be "in favor of the little guys", and every fricking time the rich get richer.

The reality is you can go to the top schools and your shitty school and the difference in what they can legitimately offer any player is apparent. Not in back room deals or whatever, but just in the support and facilities.

Where in the actual frick do you think the money that paid for those facilities came from? At what point was anything stopping your school, your boosters or anyone else from spending money on these things? Why do you not have the highest paid coach in the sport right now? These are all things your school and boosters could have been spending money on for the past 100 years and didn't. Despite getting hand outs from the better teams in the conference with shared revenue.

And yet here you are ignorantly pretending that this latest bit of spending to be allowed is somehow going to magically turn your team into a contender. Now suddenly your boosters are going to spend millions of dollars on your program.

No, what's going to happen is the people with money will just change where they spend the money and the rich are going to get richer. The things that actually gave your school a chance will slowly disappear. It doesn't matter how much money your fan base has, what matters is how much they are willing to spend.

And you'll just find some other dumbass excuse as to why the top teams are even more dominate to avoid the reality yet again. Probably turn around and make the next round of rules based on a fantasy outlook, while telling everyone who points out why it's a bad idea they are just scared. Because you sure as hell couldn't make a real argument.

Uga and bama seem more worried than others. Idk why. I do know Darnell Washington claiming Tennessee paid him gained traction but the reason he elected to go to uga instead didn't.

Do you really think GTU fans are suddenly going to start paying elite players to come play football at your school?

To be honest, they don't need proof. They've already won. The NCAA is on its way out the door, and UGA and Alabama have to compete on an equal playing field now.

The part of the NCAA lawsuit that I don't like isn't about the NCAA losing power. I simply believe that enforcing a prohibition on paying recruits to come to a school would be good for college football. I think it's a good rule that should be enforced strongly. I'm disappointed that pay for play is going to be how it works in college football going forward.
It will only be a matter of time before companies uses the teams as ways of advertising (like they ruined bowl games). Then the teams will matter even less. Recruits now just about pick schools on NIL money over anything. The Parading of players like Dart getting to use jets is just a taste of what is to come. Its like boosters on steroids. The companies will be controlling the game by pushing money around or threatening to take it away.

The players will just follow money around and the companies will control the schools by giving them the money to pay for recruits. The NCAA will be irrelevant and take any deals the schools and companies offer to keep some power and help fund academics.

Of course it is. You can't pass out cash under the protection of the NCAA and hoard 5 stars anymore, while others get infractions for doing the same thing.

Now everyone can do it. Of course, you guys tried to take Tennessee out for doing that same thing, but that effort failed (good try, though! :D )

The NCAA will not exist in college football in a short few years. Why can some not accept this fact?

It's human nature to be scared of change & uncertainty, and it doesn't help that they are such controversial changes.

Ripping up conferences with long set geographic identities, ending rivalries that have been going on for decades, gentrification and loss of the core market as the more everyman type fans get priced out etc.

Sure, revenues are up, but for long? So many people feel that we are in a bubble and once it pops, CFB will be in an ugly spot.

BTW to the melty Tenn fan with high blood pressure, surely every SEC team pays players. Maybe Tenn just sucks at it??

I'm not scared of the NCAA losing power, I just don't like pro sports as much as college sports. The NIL is ruining it in my opinion. Not that is was working properly anyway with all the cheating. But I just have no interest in watching rich teenagers play sports. It was already hard to make them care, now it is impossible.

Georgia NIL offer to Matthews

Georgia was "closer than some people thought" to landing 2024 five-star wide receiver Mike Matthews, a Georgia native that signed with Tennessee in December.

And there is our competitive playing field. Five years ago Tennessee would have garnered a few serious infractions from the NCAA for this episode and Georgia would have skated, protected by that same NCAA.

It's easy to see why Georgia fans are scared to lose the NCAA. They can now be outbid by programs with deeper pockets.

Didn’t UGA just finish with the number 1 recruiting class? It’s weird hearing ppl say NIL will even the playing field when the recruiting rankings aren’t changing at all.

Why are you scared of somebody being in charge and keeping order? You sound like the liberals wanting to do away with law enforcement. Do you want college sports turn into the wild wild west or the streets of places like cities on the west coast where chaos rules?
