Only if you want to take A&M, LSU should easily be top 60. A&M is a huge question mark.

I know the hook gets shinier the longer the thread goes, but we also know you ags think it's time to stick a fork in LSU. you may be right, but I like LSU's chances of doing well this season

I am not a fan of the hire but bringing in O definitely softened the blow

I would be shocked if A&M has a higher rated defense at the end of the year in terms of total yards or points. If that happens, it either means Chavis worked a goddamn miracle and A&M won the SEC or Steele bombed even worse than I think he will and LSU lost 5-6 games.
LSU has better defensive players on the whole and runs an offensive scheme more conducive to taking pressure off the defense and reducing opportunities for the other team to score. It would take some seriously awful defense in Baton Rouge for A&M to surpass them in terms of raw numbers this year.

Ah... the refreshing hatred of LSU and Texas A&M this off season.
Still, I don't think Steele is the worst DC the Tigers could have landed and he is a solid recruiter. There are far worse options out there they could have gone with.

Pretty much. I will be the first to say he was near the bottom of my wish list, but Les had his fair share of options and feels good about the hire.
I also don't really hear anything bad about him from the Bama fans. Seems like he was well-respect there and did a good job. Anyone Saban hires twice is clearly not a dumbass

Fwiw...the same WV team that ran up 70 the score on Clemson while Steele was there, put up nearly 600 yds on us when we played them. Chavis defense. The Honey Badger and Mo Claiborne on ST won that game for us

Hahahahaha LSU underachieves?
How many sec or national titles has Arkansas had since joint the sec?

We crushed a lot of good teams that season, but it's mind-boggling how close a lot of those game were until the badger took over
Pretty fair to say he's the best play maker on defense LSU has ever had. Whether it be punt returns or turnovers, it's crazy to think one guy alone (on defense nonetheless) was a touchdown swing

Their new defensive coordinator got a train run on him by the anemic ACC during his time at Clemson
He shut down Virginia Tech twice that season and they had the ACC player of year, running back who was with the Giants for awhile. Va Tech was in a BCS bowl that year, their only two losses were to Clemson.
the Steele defense was solid the first two years at Clemson, one of those years we only won games because of the defense. his last year we had a young defense, and injuries in the secondary.

seems like his biggest vice is that he over thinks it with multiple sets. He had one bad game against an exceptional WVU offense, led by a classless douche nonetheless.
I just like what Steele and Ed Orgeron bring to the table with coaching up LSU's front 7. I think Brick is all class and admire what he does for every community he moves to, but I can't I'm shocked as to why he got fired from State and Chicago
