Fair enough. Still, the Gunner Kiel comment is enough to remove him from the classiest list.

I don't think OBC is classy
And I love him for it.
And I love him for it.

Spurrier made his name at Florida for being unclassy. Don't know how he made the list
I love him though

How is this not classy???
Spurrier:
“I know why Peyton came back for his senior year: he wanted to be a three-time Citrus Bowl MVP”
“In 12 years at Florida, I don’t think we ever signed a kid from the state of Alabama…Of course, we found out later that the scholarships they were giving out at Alabama were worth a whole lot more than ours.”
In response to an Auburn dorm fire that burned books… “but the real tragedy was that fifteen hadn’t been colored yet.”
On Georgia recruiting… “Why is it that during recruiting season they sign all the great players, but when it comes time to play the game, we have all the great players? I don’t understand that. What happens to them?”
On playing Georgia the second week of the season… “I don’t know. I sort of always liked playing them that second game because you could always count on them having two or three key players suspended.”
“Will be the 14th time I’ve coached in Neyland Stadium. … I’ve coached there more than some of their head coaches.”

GOAT Spurrier quote:
The Tennessee Volunteers had a great year. Although their first goal of being national champions was ruined by the Gators, and though their second goal of being SEC champions was also thwarted by the Gators. And even despite the fact that their third goal of being Tennessee state champions was killed by an early season upset from the University of Memphis. The Tennessee Volunteers can proudly boast that they are they 1996 Knox County Champions.
I posted this in a thread the other day. Everyone here should own this book:
I got him to sign it at SEC Media Days a few years ago

Shug Jordan (shameless AU homerism alert)is #1
Also: Johnny Vaught and Vince Dooley from the good old days.
Modern era, probably Les Miles.
Not great coaches, but I thought Bill Curry and Sly Croom were gentlemen.

agree to disagree. while he probably shouldn't have said anything, i can see what gunner kiel did would piss you off. it's not that he called the coaching to staff to tell them he wanted to stay closer to home. it's that he flat out didn't show up and didn't tell the staff anything. lsu has had plenty of players in the past decommit on signing day in less than respectful ways (janzen jackson), and he never called them out. regardless, im not going to say that one off-color comment should completely change how you view a coach. every coach, at one point or another, has said something to the media they probably shouldn't have. it's bound to happen once you've been coaching long enough.

Miles seems classy actually. I never hear of him doing or saying something horrible.
Lies! The man is notorious for bestiality...
...and vandalizing stadiums...
...and he dances like the whitest of white boys...
...and that clap...
Whatever your opinion of the man is, he is definitely one of a kind...

quote:I was next to him on a plane to N.O. where he was doing the TV color for the Sugar Bowl...helluva guy! I told him that I lived one neighborhood over from Coach Bryant and we crossed paths occasionally. He laughed and said that he could tell me some great stories, but he was afraid I'd say something to Coach and he'd know where they came from. Apparently they and their families were close personal friends.
quote:Frank Broyles definitely makes the list, IMO. I had lunch with him and his family day after Thanksgiving last year -- just a fantastic gentleman and representative for our university and state. Even at 89, he's still sharp as a tack when it comes to football and football history.
