Are you kidding?

Bama's scheme is so QB friendly, they could win with a 3rd string QB.

McCarron is about as talented as a third string QB, so that makes sense.

AJ steadily improved throughout 2011 and finished 2012 the highest rated QB (175). This makes no sense.

"Highest rated" is always the biggest crutch argument in sports. It assigns arbitrary weights to what exactly? Do you know the formula? Stupid. He wasn't anywhere close to the best QB in his division, much less his conference, or the country.

Remember Greg McElroy? He put up good numbers for Alabama and they won a National Championship with him barely doing anything.

Exactly how does one put up good numbers barely doing anything?

The answer is Manziel and it's not debatable.

crutch

It's used by scouts and it's used by sports agents at contract time. Somebody thinks it's valid.

Let's put it this way. An UA opponent will have to account for the run game, passing game, and for scrambling. He seems to be doing a fine job...agree to disagree man.

The referenced sig is kind of a sad joke on a particular segment over at TD.

Without Manziel, A&M probably wins 8 or 9 games last year

JFF
The talent A&M has on O is VERY good..BUT his schoolyard/ playground/ impromptu stuff is what makes him so valuable when the play breaks down. It took 3-4 game for the OL to figure out how long he could extend plays.
As he gets better at playing within the system, this will lessen.
I agree with Vanilla..the Ags win 7 games TOPS last year w/o him...probably more like 5-6.

JFF

Thing is, A&M was much better prepared to do without him last year than we are this year. Showers would have been a good QB, so other than Bama and LSU (and LaTech due to the point explosion they put up), I do think we would have had a good chance in all those games.

Now that Showers has transferred, and with another redshirt freshman looking like our best backup, JFF is even MORE a critical piece than last year.

Also, remember that Johnny didn't beat OU by himself. We held them to 13 points. I think it's not a stretch of the imagination to say that Showers could have led us to 2-3 touchdowns in that game. Enough to win, at least.

Without a doubt JFF is more important to his team. Without him, A&M is arguably worse than Mizzou. That is how good he makes them. I suspect Bama wins with or without AJ.
