Looks to be under kept. Our picture was taken during a hot as hell SR and it still looks healthy.

Yours has brown spots.

Been to a ton of games in the old box and NEVER saw brown spots. Sadly only been to one in the new box but I doubt there has ever been any brown spots. I mean I dont think in any SEC field has brown spots. These fields arent your neighborhood recreation parks.

There's a brown spot in short centerfield in that picture.

BATON ROUGE — The baseball playing surface at LSU’s Alex Box Stadium has been named 2009 "Sports Field of the Year" by the American Sports Builders Association.

The ASBA administers an awards program each year in order to promote the highest standards of construction excellence.

The Alex Box Stadium field was designed by the landscape architecture firm Jeffrey L. Bruce & Company of Kansas City, Mo. , and the natural grass surface is maintained by the LSU Athletic Department’s turf management staff.

"Once a field is designed and installed, it’s necessary to have a highly competent and dedicated groundskeeping staff to maintain it every day," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "We’re very fortunate to have a group of individuals that work tirelessly to ensure we have a field that stays in superb condition. This is a well-deserved honor for our turf management staff."

The staff is supervised by Ronnie Haliburton, LSU Assistant Athletic Director for Buildings and Grounds, and Todd Jeansonne, Assistant Director for Athletic Buildings and Grounds.

The expert groundskeeping crew includes Eric Fasbender, Jonathan Garrett and Michael Watson.

The crew has worked diligently to prepare the Alex Box Stadium surface for the 2010 season, which begins at 7 p.m. on February 19 when the Tigers play host to Centenary

LSU's outer facade is easily the best. And has potential to be the best overall, if and when finished properly.

But, it's unfinished suites, spearmint green(instead of proper deep hunter green used in MLB and at USCe) is hideous, it's metal bleachers in the outfield, cheap see-thru batter's eye, lack of trees in backdrop/view of aluminum siding Ponderosa, too many ads, use of green chairbacks amongst the purple and gold chairbacks, the huge concrete steps/aisle slightly to the left behind homeplate for pitcher's view and tv viewers sucks, etc..major blunders!

USCe's setup down the lines and their outfield walls are far more MLB and prettier than LSU's, Oklahoma and Ole Miss have prettier backdrops beyond the outfield with their tree lines(yes even over Tigerstadium in the distance Tigerfans)..etc..

LSU should break-up some of the view of the Ponderosa's huge yellow tin walls to Box fans, by planting some huge matured relocated oaks or other tree.

Thus far, the Box planning is being fumbled a bit. Then again, LSU found a way to shell out 40M for new West Uppers, and had exposed wires inside TS for a few years, and still has exposed insulated piping underbelly, chipped tiles, new dusty white canopies, and chain link everywhere,etc..

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here.

Still, Alex Box is not on par aesthetically to O-U at Ole Miss or South Carolina's stadium.

I'm absolutely in love with the facade.

Too bad they didn't back that up with anything else of quality.

the empty areas are sections left open for suite expansion...the box is far from completion

Then until it's completed, that part will continue to look like shite.

The front of the suites also don't fit with how the front of the stadium was designed. Looks kinda dull.

The front, size, and scoreboard are impressive. But the suites, bleachers, and ads really take away from it.

Though, I can understand, It's what makes O-U so amazing.

It glows in the night.
Absolutely beautiful.

I will take our outfield seating arrangements over any other in the country. Lemme see...2nd degree burns on your arse and legs from metal bleachers that look tacky or plenty of room to sit and the ability to bring in coolers, chairs, grills etc? Also, in left field there is all kinds of room for the little folks to run around, even a playground in the left field corner.

Plus, now that the stadium connects to left field with the new terrace area and concession stands, I don't know how anyone can say ours isn't top 3 in the nation. Not disrespect to the Baum, Box, or S Carolina but Swayze is where it's at. If you don't believe me, it's because you've never been to a game at O-U Stadium.

Oh yeah, there isn't one bleacher seat in Swayze. All chairbacks w/ cupholders.

I actually like it. It adds depth and makes it look uniform.

And BTW...the Right field student section now looks much closer resembling the left field. Not quite as big as left field, but probably double the size of last years right field.
