Evans is a size mismatch that's about it. That works in college football but in the NFL it doesn't

That's what I was thinking. Don't get me wrong, Evans is a great college football player. But he's going to be facing a lot better coverage in the NFL who can overcome or match his size or physicality. I think he'd be a Dwayne Bowe type receiver, which is fine if that's what you're looking for.

Cas, when I responded, it was to the thread and yours was the last post. I wasn't saying that, you specifically said what was in my post. Sorry for any confusion or for making you think I meant you, just happens to be the last post when I replied.

Evans. Bigger, faster, and plays meaner. Matthews is more polished, but Mike has only been playing football for 4 years now.

Maybe not as fast as Megatron, true, but he's fast enough to score from 95 yards against Bama. I'm ok with comparing him to David Boston before he bulked up too much.

Elite route runners can get open, indeed. To accomplish what he did at Vandy is amazing. But what if Jordan Matthews gets jammed at the line of scrimmage? NFL corners aren't going to let him just roam free. Reminds me of Charles Rogers from Detroit.

Cas - Maybe it'd be easier if you linked what you have been right about.

He is a big softy. He isn't physical and can't handle getting shut down.

He is a big guy. Doesn't play soft.

It was one play later he was back in and he caught a 25 yard pass on 4th and 18 to keep the game alive. The kid is really tough and gritty

That was one of the gutsiest things that I have ever seen. JMatt will put in as much work and be an amazing guy to have in a locker room who will become a leader in a few years. That's if he was just going to be an average receiver, but he could very well become a top WR due to his determination and work ethic. He just makes plays when they need to be made. Evans does have slightly better tangibles, but I'd take Matthews.

Exactly, he's a leader, not a player who bitches and moans when he meets the slightest adversity.

He has good genetics too, related to Jerry rice if I'm not mistaken, that maybe where he gets his awesome work ethic.

It's a tossup. When you consider that Evans has only played football for like 4 or 5 years you realize his upside is huge. Right now Mathews is more polished but Evans can catch up real fast with the right coaching.
