Bateman will be the QB all season barring injury. Don't listen to the Barnett fanboys.

And Bateman wil be fine for what we do. Kiffin and Saban will modify the system to appeal to his strengths (short passes) and he's a really good athlete just like they did with Blake Sims and Jake Coker. He does not have a strong arm but we can plan around it---esp given the talent that will be around him.

For the life of me, I can't see Bateman starting...or even playing. IMO, he'd have to experience an absolute total transformation at the position from last year. I'd love to see the kid be extremely successful back there, but I'll swear, I just don't see it.

McElroy-4th year in system

No. He started in his 4th year at Bama but his first season was the last year of Shula.

He started in his 3rd year in Saban's system.

Because one surprise start (in which he completed 11 of 14 passes) clearly defines a player's entire career.

No. Because he looked lost out there....made poor decisions and didn't move the chains. Also, don't think for a minute that his start was a surprise to anybody in the know, coaches or players. That's not Saban's M.O. Having said all that, I again, say that I hope he proves me wrong....but I'm still glad we've got alternatives.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that he can't throw the deep ball.

So, there may be QB problems in Bama this year? I mean if two transfer out once Bateman wins it?

There could be QB problems, sure but given Saban's record the far I seriously doubt there will be any issues at all.

As far as transfers go, I doubt anybody transfers until after this season. If Cornwell has been working in the classroom, he can graduate before next fall and play without sitting. This will be Barnett's RS frosh season and Hurts is a true freshman.

Don't count on it. If 2 go (and I'm guessing they will), they'll leave after the season's over and we'll have probably 2 more coming in next year. The kid from Hawaii has already committed and we're looking at others.
Bottom line, my man, is if you're waiting on Alabama to run out of winning QBs, you'd better pack your lunch, supper, and breakfast because it's gonna be a while.

This is a weird year for Alabama. Typically, in the past, they've had experienced and reliable running backs to rely on when the quarterbacks were fresh. They have talent, but quarterback and running back are both kind of inexperienced (putting it lightly).

Keep up. I never said this the entire thread. I even complimented your program for suck a feat.

I'm just trying to see if this year is any different than year's past.

It will be Bateman and they will win 12,13 or 14 games and wreck shop on the sec as usual. As long as Saban is there it doesn't matter

Would this be considered a down year at Bama or the norm?

This folks is an accurate assessment. In the past the new QB had a proven stud RB lining up behind him. This year both will be proving themselves at the same time.

Spot on. First time in the Saban era that we haven't had an established "heir" at the RB position...whichever RB starts, it'll be kind of like learning on-the-job...just gotta hope their talent will reach their potential, and quickly at that...

Sweeeeet! Saban's got a challenge on this hands this off season!

Inexperienced QB/RB/Center......this will put a fire under Coach's butt and he will have to get the blood flowing to get this figured out. The OCD will kick in soon and he'll walk the floors putting together a plan and working on getting these young guys prepared.

So, the nod goes to the QB who lost against Ole Miss?
