Wouldn't you agree that Kiffin has done an outstanding job with his QBs at Bama so far? Sorry we're not worried. It's just football, somebody's gonna be back there winning games. Mainly because of the defense and punter, anyway.

Well NFL people and posters here didn't think much of Coker and Sims.

How good would Bama have been with a QUALITY multi-year starter during the last ten years?

you mean NFL starter AJ McCarron? 2 national championships good.

Meh, we'll be ok as long as the QB isn't an idiot. I mean when you go undefeated in the SEC with John Parker Wilson, the bar is not that high.

The funniest part of all of this is all the talk we hear is how LSU will fail because how bad Harris is. So basically we will flop because of the QB spot yet Alabama gets a pass and you rarely here one person say that they might be in a worse spot at QB then we are, yet God forbid it's Alabama.

Because we have proven we can win with a first year starter qb. We did in 09. We did in 11. We did in 15. We have way better coaching than LSU. Lane Kiffin is a hell of an OC. LSU's passing game is mediocre and underachieving. Why would you expect to change that this year?

We have proven we can win regardless. LSU hasn't. That's why preseason we get the pass. We will all see though.

all of sabans championships at bama were with a 1st year qb except 2012. Barnett looked by far the best to me in spring, just needs to reign in the gunslinger thing to cut mistakes, much like aj had to do

They won two national titles with two new starting QBs. So yes they get a pass until proven otherwise. LSU has proven otherwise??

After watching the A-game I thought Hurts was the most impressive. I'm not sure if he went against the starting D, but he looked good for a incoming freshmen. He will definitely be a multi year starter.
Also it's hard to judge a QB who's going against a loaded defense.

Yeah I don't think A-day game is too important. We have had some awful A-day games from qb's in the past and they go on to play well when it matters.

But ever since he has come to Tuscaloosa you keep hearing positive things about him. People seem really impressed with him mentally and physically. We knew he had the physical tools but if he already has the right mind for it as a freshman....that's scary. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but his dad is a football coach so maybe that helps.

Regardless I just have a hard time seeing him have any meaningful snaps this year barring injury. I think he is the future though. I'm excited for him.

As someone mentioned earlier definitely going to end up having some transfers later on.

Is it Bateman?

Probably, but wouldn't stun anyone if it wasn't (or if it wasn't Bateman all year).

What can tRant expect this year?

another year in which Bama has very strong D, solid running game, and wins 10+ while contending for the SEC & Natty titles.

Is this the first year they haven't had someone already in the system for 5 years?

Coker was on campus only about 14 months before winning the job for the 2015 season.

When McCarron won the job he was a RSSo, so he was on campus for 2 years before winning the job.

Also, since this is Kiffin's 3rd season, No One has been in the "system" for 5 years.

I think Barnett wins the job over Bateman this year. Hurts will be in the mix next year if one of the two guys above him doesn't run away with it this year.

While I think it will be Bateman, it wouldn't surprise me if it were any of the others either...

So, no one really knows as of yet?

Is there a QB controversy in T-town?

I wouldn't call it a controversy. No one knew anything this time last year too.

Bama has an unproven quarterback. LSU has a quarterback who has proven himself to be shitty.

No. There are 4 guys still legitimately fighting for the job (well maybe not the true freshman). There is no need to announce anything yet. This is par for the course for Saban when he doesn't have a returning starter. He did with McCarron/P. Sims; Coker/B. Sims; and Coker/Bateman. Never really was much of a "controversy" even when those battles lingered into the season. When Saban decided on the guy, any "controversy" pretty much ended immediately.

That's because LSU has shown they cannot win with inferior QB play.

Alabama has shown they can go no matter who the QB is.

You honestly don't see the difference?

Let's twist this into a different angle.

Every year LSU fans say this will be the year Alabama loses because they have a young inexperienced QB, yet they keep winning. Every year, those same LSU fans say that their QB is going to be greatly improved and they will beat Alabama, yet they continue to get beat by Alabama.

Is it because the QB is making the difference, or is it because the rest of the team is that much more superior? And before you say LSU has had some very good recruiting classes, Alabama has had something like 6 or 7 straight #1 recruiting classes.

I'm an LSU fan. I know Alabama has had many horses in the stable at the QB Position. Guys that have been in the system for years. But since this is the first year, from what I know, that no one on the roster at QB is an upper classman.

Is this belief correct? Yes, they've started inexperienced QBs who have won; but have any been freshman or sophomores?
