Vols should be very good but I see a lot of young guys on there and not many proven outside of Sutton, Maggitt and Barnett. Also I don't know if the Vols coaching staff is as good as the other 2.

On paper, UGA or UF. However when the final SEC defensive stats are tallied, I believe Mizzou's defense will end up higher in the rankings than either of those two.

Reason?

Reeves-Maybin is proven as well and there is a lot of experience in the secondary.

I do think UT has the best front 4 but the back 7 is not anything special outside of Sutton and JRM. Safeties do not have very much talent and the MLB spot will probably be bad.

UGA will if their secondary plays well, because the front 7 should be awesome. That said, UF has an established secondary and talent up front so they won't be far behind UGA if at all

I think you gave it backwards. If the dline plays well we will because the lbs and DNS should be solid.

uf. maybe uga.

uf may have a tough time of it if the offense cant stay on the field, that oline in gainesville cant afford 1 injury.

Mizzou's D will be good enough to make Hot 'Lanta again. Set back and enjoy.

UGA most likely.

Although Collins with the group he inherited might do some damage.

THen again, all UF has to do is run the ball a lot to shut UGA's defense down so...

Florida's projected 2 deep:

DE: Jonathan Bullard, Bryan Cox Jr.
DT: Caleb Brantley, Khairi Clark
DT: Joey Ivey, Taven Bryan
Rush: Alex McCallister, CeCe Jefferson
LB: Antonio Morrison, Alex Anzalone
LB: Jarrad Davis, Jeremi Powell
NB: Brian Poole, Quincy Wilson
CB: VH3, Deondre Porter
CB: Jalen Tabor, Quincy Wilson
S: Keanu Neal, Duke Dawson
S: Marcus Maye, Nick Washington/Marcell Harris

For fans that care about stars ratings, that defense has 5 former 5 stars in the 2 deep, and 11 more 4 stars. But more important than that, they're big, they're fast, and there aren't any weaknesses on the whole depth chart.

The only depth chart in the SEC east that stacks up with that right now is Georgia, which is equal or better on paper.

Missouri doesn't look as good on paper, but they are tough as nails and bring it every week.

If I had to rank it today, I would say:

1. UGA
1b. UF
2. Missouri
3. Tennessee

Our strengths play right in to Collins scheme too, right? Blitz like a mother fricker and let your DB's go man to man. Going to be nasty IMO especially if the reports of Brantley turning the corner are true.

Brantley is 6'2, 315. He's a hugely underrated player and was very strong for UF at the end of last year. If he has truly "turned the corner" or whatever, he is talented enough to be All SEC.

UF finished 15th in the country in total defense...even though saddled with poor offense that was a three and out machine.

Where pray tell did UT finish? UGA?

We are stacked at DL, LB and DBs...not just the best in the east...but in the SEC if offense improves even slightly. Our defense has a ton of snaps under their belts.

Dobbs will be wearing Macallisters & Coxs after shave lotion by halftime. Morrison/Davis will crush his ugly azz if he tries to run. 11 in a row.

UGA finished at 17 if you're using total yardage.

UGA should have finished higher with that run game. UT wasnt really running much because Hurd was still learning and came on a little later in season. USCe was a shell of itself from the 2013 season with so many def players leaving.

USCe will be a better team this year on defense. I like Jon Hoke.

Mizzou is a puzzle to me....Vandy should be slightly better with new coordinators.

The east and the west are going be knock down, drag out saloon fights this year. Cant wait...defenses are key, I love to hear pads popping. UT vs OU, UF, UGA, USCe, Mizzou, Bama & UK will determine if UT is 6-6 or 7-5 imo. Next year UT should be better with more upper classmen.

UK will be fighting and scrapping. I just hope we can escape Lexvegas with a W early on....UF will at least have two games OOC under its belt. UGA may beat Bama at home and then plays USCe early on...UT, UF, Mizzou, AU, I see two to three Ls. East winner is probably going to have 2 losses and three is a possibility. UGA needs to lose only one east game and then if they lose to AU...they would probably still have face to face advantage.
