This is not at all what the OP is talking about.
if players were doing it in 1980 its stands to reason that it would have bled over into the fan base before Arky was leaving the SWC.

1984 - Florida fans chanted it after beating Auburn, because UF was about to win its first SEC football title
1986 - Kentucky fans chanted it during the LSU-Georgia Tech game in the NCAA basketball regionals (UK fans were there, because the Wildcats were in the same regional)
1991 - Mississippi State fans chanted it after beating UK in their game in Starkville, because MSU was about to share their first SEC basketball title in 28 years

Yes, it has gotten stale. I used to do it in the 80's and 90's, but I cringe when our crowd does it. I really think the last time I participated was when we beat A&M in the 2000 Independence Bowl.

Our last year in the SWC our fans used it a lot to rub the Texan jackasses noses in the fact that we wouldn't be around to be screwed by them anymore.
Our last game against texas,in little rock and a win,was especially sweet.....SEC!
I don't know who did it first, but I also remember this. I thought our use of it against Texas as SEC members may have popularized it. The chant in Barnhill South would have been by Arkansas fans, since I believe we won the SWCT that year. But we chanted it all the time in our final year of the SWC and that was the first time I remember hearing it.
