Normally I'd say Auburn, but I think Gus is a meh kind of hire. Arkansas recruiting looks like shite. UT is losing everyone and also has a meh type hire. I don't know TBH.

If I had to pick, I'd say Arkansas. But "back" to them is 3rd in the west so

We still don't even have a full staff and two of our coaches are still coaching their bowl game

To answer your question, Arkansas. We have a far better staff who have great backgrounds in recruiting that will get us back

Was my statement incorrect?

I think yall recover back to normalcy before AU or UT become NC contenders again.

It's between Ark and TN. If Ark was in the east, I'd say them, of those two TN has the better chance of being relevant in their division.

Define "back" for these respective teams though.

I would take Tennessee for the wins/loss column. Right now, if Auburn and Arkansas both were about average teams we could still only win 5 games total. The West is strong and deep and both teams WILL be playing better football sooner than later but it might not look like it.

Gotta win the conference first. And you're obviously in a harder division that UT.

Auburn.

I like the staff Malzahn assembled for the most part. Loved that he chose to get rid of the clowns on staff as well, even if it means losing a few top flight recruits THIS year. It is going to take a couple years, but I expect AU to be back sooner than the other 2.

I expect to see some major shakeup with AU's roster, so I hope their fans are expecting similar. It is time for Malzahn to set the tone and get rid of the cancers. Lord knows there's a ton of those on AU's team right now.

Tennessee has the best shot at being better than 4th in their division.

I think a lot will leave the team and I expect it. I really thought that Muschamp would have run off more than he did so I hold out hope that Malzahn and Co. can forge them anew.

This is my line of thinking.

But I also agree that Gus is assembling a great staff.

Either way I think UT will be in the SECCG before Arkansas or Auburn.

Auburn should bounce back the fastest if any of them do. Let’s see how their recruiting finishes up this year.

Arkansas has Texas to recruit, but they haven't had that much success so far. They need to hit Texas as if their lives depended on it.

Tennessee has to take back their in-state talent pool, but that looks like an uphill battle, and it’s not that deep to begin with.

I will be surprised if TAM can come anywhere close to repeating this year’s success. They lose a lot of big time talent, and I don't think they can reload like Bama and LSU do.

Their in-state recruiting should improve, but that will take a few years before they can challenge Bama or LSU on an annual basis.

I expect the loss of a couple of 1st. round lineman and the Heisman/sophomore jinx to devour Manziel next year.

All true

But Bielema is better than Jones and our staff is one of the best since Broyles

It'll take a good 3, 4 years but I think we'll get there. I don't know if we'll ever make it but we'll be in the conversations. I'm pretty confident in that

I should have stated in the OP that Arkansas had the best hire of the 3. That's obviously a big factor. But Gus could turn out much better than expected.
