He should just get the GOAT Award and leave the yearly accomplishments to other coaches. Haha

Depends on what happens the next 3 weeks. Any of the candidates mentioned are deserving, and seeing a co-COY wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Bert. No one has brought more entertainment to the SEC this year than him

Idk about Freeze. No doubt he's a great coach. But I don't think you can give the award to a coach that lost 25-0 against Alabama. His big win this year is over LSU, and tbh, we just aren't that good this year.

At this point, I'm with ya. That's why I put some conditionals on it.

If he beats Mizzou in a couple weeks and then takes care of MSU to finish out 9-3 with two top 10 wins. I think that at least puts him in the conversation.

Hell, Nutt did less than that here and won it.

EDIT - I'll contribute to the OP's question of who deserves it SO FAR.

Gus, hands down. His team did a complete 180 from last year. That's pure coaching.

Pinkel is good, but he's just finally got healthy players.

Saban is Saban. I think COY should go first to a coach who faced the most adversity and made the relative most of it.

Saban is obviously the best coach in the league but that's not what motivates the award.

It almost always goes to the coach of a team that did poorly last year and really dang good this year.

By that criteria it will be either Pinkel or Malzhan.

If one of them manages to make the SEC title game, that will probably decide who wins it.
