2004 AU or 2010 AU. Non-biased homer here.

2010 AU

I wouldn't say them because they had close game after close game against bad teams, but they did always pull it out in the end.

No offense but '04 didnt win jack shite. Well wait a minute they did squeak out a 16-13 win against a Bryan Randall led Virginia Tech team in the Sugar Bowl if I remember correctly.

No offense but the '10 AU defense was absolute garbage. Worst defense to ever win a NC. Cam was def one of if not the greatest all time player in the SEC though. Of course this is my non-biased homer opinion.

2011 Bama. Won by 20pts or so on every team except the LSU game in t-town. That was a fluke as bore out in NC game. I really believe it was the best Bama team since Bryant was coach. I also think the 2011 Bama defense was the best ever in college football. The stats back it up.

What was the saying? "13-0 and nothing to show."

Yep, but it did get all of the other jack leg SEC teams that couldn't win all of their games in the NC though.

Actually, that game was the fluke.

And your best team (09 Bama) eeked one out against a Chris Todd led Auburn team.

Meh, hard to hold that against how good that Auburn team was, especially, when USC had to forfeit the NC.

The 1938 and 1939 Tennessee Volunteers

1938

1939

Gave up a total of 30 points in two years. 14 of which were in the '39 Rose Bowl.

Held opponents scoreless for 15 games in a row.

Untouchable.

I think if UF had not lost to Ole Miss in 2008, this is an easier question. Scored 611 points, gave up only 181. Beat 6 straight SEC teams by 28 points or more, schedule included 10 or 11 teams that made bowl games and beat the #1 team in the country in consecutive games. That team was loaded on both sides of the ball, still can't believe they lost to Ole Miss.

I don't think it really matters that UF lost to Ole Miss, that team would probably still handle any undefeated SEC team.

If we are talking about greatest SEC teams relative to their time then I can accept some of these posters talking about teams from the last century.

If we are simply talking about best SEC team ever, it has to come from the last decade. There is no way teams from 20 years ago or more could beat the teams of today. My vote is last years Alabama team.

I'll die thinking that we threw the final 4 game against Syracuse that year.

Despite the loss, 2011 Alabama > 2009 Alabama. That Alabama team blew out a Clint Moseley-led Auburn team by a score of 42-14 and didn't let a Gus Malzahn-led offense into the endzone.

ETA: I honestly think 2012 Alabama could beat 2009 Alabama due to the fact that '12 plays better as a team and has more resiliency.

We are talking about them relative to the other teams they were playing against in their respective eras

we beat you heads up. We stopped Tebow on a 4th down call when you should have kicked a field goal.

I don't understand why Ole MIss beating UF is such a surprise. We usually beat UF. Check the record.

Saying that, Tebow is one of my favorite college players and one of the best I ever saw play in Vaught Hemingway. (he did beat us that year 30-24)

1939 Vols allowed zero points. Next question.
