Kelly wins the West his first year. DeBoer takes Washington to the championship his second year.

Alabama hire has yet to do just about anything so it is impossible to rate them at this time.

DeBoer appeared in the championship in his second season at the P5 level.

Kelly did it in his third.

At LSU, Kelly took over a 6-6 team and went 9-3.

By that metric, DeBoer has to probably go 12-0.

Interestingly, DeBoer’s resume is almost identical to Kelly’s when he got the ND job.

Kelly also took Notre Dame to the NC.

Both are good hires. Kelly is the better one on paper. DeBoer might have more upside, but he’s a bigger risk.

DeBoer took over 4-8 Washington and went 10-2. Not SEC, but equally as impressive as taking a 6-6 SEC team and going 9-3, IMO.

Does it piss you off that Bama went and got a coach who was just in the National championship, while A&M got a basketball school coach?

I would agree.

The only thing I like about DeBoer more than Kelly is the age. He is much younger and if he does pan out as a very good coach Bama could realistically keep him much longer than we would be able to keep Kelly. Other than that I think Kelly is the better hire.

Very similar.

Kelly was a little worse vs ranked teams, believe it was 10-4 vs DeBoer's 10-1 but he also wasn't at a P5 program.

Cincinnati had never won 10 games or appeared in a NY6 bowl prior to BK, he won 10 games 3/3 years and appeared in two NY6 bowls.

Considering one hasn't coached a game as an SEC HC, I'd say it is too early to make that call.

But this thread will still get to 4+ pages.

The game is changing so fast right now. I think it will come down to who can adapt and take advantage quicker.
